Default IRD Log Extract and DM500 & 7020

I'm having a play with IRD log extract and have a couple of issues:

1/ I can get it to log for Austar with my dm500 but not the 7020
2/ I can't get it to log for select

Why can't I get it working with the 7020? What are the settings for select? I'm using port 31338, Emm PID 03EA, separtor 8240 which I gather are the Austar settings.

Why don't you just use "dvbsnoop -b 0x3ea > dump.bin" or changing 3ea or whatever pid you want to monitor, also you need to make sure you are tuned into the correct Transponder, so change the channel on the remote or via web UI then use IRD_Logextract to process it later... Always works for me, and you can kick off the logging without needing your PC online, and process the log at a later date.

I have never see or played with IRD log extract But the Selectv EMM Pid is 0500 a Stream dump also has a Pid of 0501 data is not as fast as say Aus* so be patient

As for not working on the dm7020 some images don't have the stream maps installed can I ask what image it is ? also do you have all the softcams Off ?

Ive found on gemini images it's better to run the log without have a softcam running. eg disable the softcam when you go to bed, run the log and check it in the morning.

I would still recommend using dvbsnoop.

Download and install "screen" for the 7020, then type "screen" to bring up a screen window, zap to the correct transponder you want, type "dvbsnoop -b 0xe3a > /media/hdd/snoop.dat" then hit "ctrl-A D" to disconnect from the screen, walk away for a day or however long you want to log, then to reconnect to the screen type "screen -ls" to find the process id, then "screen -dr xxxx" with xxxx as the process id. And you can stop your copy of dvbsnoop running. Then it's as easy as mounting the disk from your PC, and parsing it with log_extractor, or any other app you choose to like.

Much easier, and only needs 1 box, your DM with a HDD, as long as there is enough space on it

    Leroy,

You can get a binary of dvbsnoop for the dream

@bartender,.. screen is a great proggy, was introduced to it many years back when we needed to run a time consuming task but couldn't keep the shell open,.. or wanted to check on progress from different places.

    Cheers,

    Jim.....
