    Default Dreambox internal slot fix

I stole this from another forum sat-industry.net,

    Original post by Spooky

just place a 270 ohm resistor between pins 1 and 3

I'm not a techy but do you think this would fix the problem of whitey's in the internal slot.. Fixes goldies etc.

Do you have the rest of the instructions? What pins... on the smartcard socket...or is it an IC??

Here is the whole post, but they figured it better not to cut the circuts.
    Dream BoX card reader fix
I have a fix for the dream box card readers
After many images and several card - figured my box was faulty
So i dug out the oscilloscope
    And started looking around
Image was 107.2 emu rdgd and I found the after a reset the emu the clock osc went
From 1.5 MHz to 6.3 MHz the clock at 1.5 MHz level was about 3v pp
Now the problem when it changed 6.3 MHz the level dropped
Down to 1 v p-p this works for some sub cards but not any thing else
This is also a problem for some card programmers to

    Solution amplify the clock signal

I have only done this mod to the top card slot as it easier to do
The pin out for the top card slot extention is
    1 +5v
    2 MLR or reset
    3 clocks
    4 card switch
    5 gnd
    6
    7data I/O
    8 card switch
You need to remove the top card socket and cut the track that
Goes from pin 3 of the extender board to pin 3 of the card slot
Solder a wire on the card socket pin 3

Grab a BC548 and solder the emitter to gnd pin 5
collector to the wire from The card socket pin 3 and a 220 ohm which goes to pin 1 +5v
The base is connected to pin 3 on the extender connector

With this mod the 6.3 MHz level came up to 4vpp and I can read Goldies emerald subs
But for some reason fun cards don’t work but I don’t think it a clock issue

I am going to contact dream media as ask if they have any fixes and will update at a later stage
Also he is the direct post and replies (did not think I could post this so remove if not allowed mods)

What, are you meant to put a card in that slot??? I all ways
    thought it was for cooling
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

but you could do this mod then add a crystal drive circuit and it should work. One day i'll draw up the circuit diagram and give it ago
