Haven't dealt with them for a while but the best way might be to contact your area sales rep and get him to give you a price list with your discount levels so you can do your own quoting.

Just wondering does anyone use Security Merchants, i hear very mixed reviews on them from different people and just wanted to know some other people opinions?

Stuff it! I will go in there on monday and have a look at what they have..
Will post how it goes!
You're sick of no one getting back to you yet you're will interested in them? Theres plenty of choice around these days. Move on to someone that actually wants your business.

Ok so i went in there and they seem alot better than the "rumors" i hear about them.
The guy put together 2 quotes for me within a matter of 2 hours..
I didnt realize the had another version of the crow panel for cheap as hell!!
Going to put one of these in my next small install...
Thanks
oh dear
I think the main problem is that you are calling Security merchants in the morning....
Usually the person you speak to in the morning no longer works there in the afternoon, he/she has handed in their resignation and moved on.
Not sure... I thought i would just check them out anyway.. i know they dont really have a great reputation but it seems to be all from people who dont use them regularly.
They have given me 4 quotes now 2 of them which i have won with Protege.(Not huge jobs) Booking in for the course in the next couple of weeks so i will post how the training goes as well!
So far i cant put them down as far as service goes and i would recomend people going in there to have a chat....
On on other hand its all up to you guys
There's a reason the majority don't use them regularly.
Good luck with that. Given that you phoned several times for quotes and no one got back to you, what makes you think things will be any different when you require tech support?
Might I direct you to your first post wherein you state. You faulted them before you even started.Originally Posted by MrSwish
Any way, have fun. You've had no positive comments in this thread from those in the know and persisted with them in spite of your initial experience. You'll no doubt soon learn that they've earned their current reputation. It begs the question though, why would you all of a sudden stop using your current provider or any of the big names in favor of a smaller provider of dubious reputation?
I'm a little uneasy with the idea of quoting to install a product before you are proficient.
Please tell me I've misunderstood.
First of all the comment about people not getting back to me was not about them. It was about my current provider (Who i dont really want to say who)
I was posting to see if anybody had used
They will give pricing to anyone in the industry, just cant buy it until you have done the course.
No need to get so defensive about it i was just asking the question to hopefully someone that actually used them... Rather then someone who just rags on them because of the reputation...
But #### it ill just keep doing what im doing...
I'm not ragging on them for their reputation. I'm ragging on them because I have unfortunately had occassion to deal with them a few times since they appeared in the market and have been bitterly disappointed with their lack of customer service, professionalism, technical support and knowledge of their own products. Why do you think they lost Concept? Now they're trying to push a new and unknown product into the AU market, with the same level of tech support they offered as an IR dealer. Epic fail awaits once again.
Thats fair enough then... They are the kind of answers i was looking for.
I did the course it seemed to go pretty well. I did ask the tech how long he had worked there said only around 1 year? Not sure of the last time you dealt with them??
Do they still have a tech then? Thought they'd all moved on.
Yes the guy that ran the training was brett? (I think)
Sorry for the double post but its brett thompson.. He was at seadan until they lost protege.
