Default New keyfob remotes for Solution 6 home alarm

    Hi There,

The home we've purchased has a Solution 6 alarm with a keypad remote and 2 keyfobs that also open the garage door.

Both remotes are very worn to the point where all of the text has rubbed off the buttons with some buttons no longer working.

The person who sorted our alarm with the monitoring company said he didn't know if you could get a new keyfob for this alarm so I thought I'd check here - do these still exist or can non-oem ones be programmed to work with it?

I'm not planning on programming them (unless it's easy) - just doing some research as it didn't seem like the technician could be bothered!

Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Ben

FYI, the batteries in those remotes alone would be worth more than the alarm panel.

I guess I thought that it would be a lot cheaper than a whole new alarm - would that be correct?

    Cool

I think you'll find that the RE005(E) will work as it communicates on the codepad bus. But honestly you must have the Solution 6 that Noah jettisoned off the ark when he ran aground.

Totally hearing you with regard to how old it is!

Would it be easy to add them into the system?

Even if the batteries are flat

    Hi Ben,

Any standalone remote receiver with at least 2 relay outputs will do the job for you.

    get your installer to:

Set relay1/button1 as momentary using C and NO contacts and wire into spare zone input (if available) and program it as a momentary keyswitch input.... don't forget about the resistor!

Set Relay2/Button2 as momentary using C and NO contacts on relay and wire in Garage Control cable for garage door operation

DO NOT BUY OFF eBAY and attempt yourself as there is some programming and wiring you will have to do and you can (read: will) stuff it up! Get a professional!

    Hope this helps
