It might help if you will be using them again at your new location
Ok I'm not expecting a miracle, but I'll put it out there.
My alarm/monitoring is on a lease approx $240 a month.
My lease with the alarm ends 31/08/2013
My lease for my building ends 31/07/2012.
I rang up the company and asked about a break early price and they yes it's easy it's 14*240.
As the package included monitoring and maintneance which wouldn't be done as the alarm would be disconnected, I said would there be any rebate.
The answer was No, I accept this as this is what the previous owner signed up for and what I took over. I accept it but still find it a little bit rude and was wondering is there any thing you can say, which might help the cause.
Thanks in Advance.

New Location could be months away.
You are right though.
The 3 months you got free a little while ago probably didnt help your cause much
You are probably right itscrowtime.
Oh well, I'll just have to bite the bullet.
New place could be a while off.
You could give your lawyer a call if the original agreement was with the previous owner you may be in luck
$240/month is rough as hell, unless that includes 2-3 nightly patrol checks.
A lot of companies no longer have contracts which is why its best to look for these ones. Something to think about for when you move into your new building!
What exactly do you get for $240 pm? Does it include supply & installation of the alarm equipment? CCTV?
Guys,
His alarm and monitoring were leased. Firstly, it might not be that expensive and secondly, it is what it is.
My suggestion, contract for a new term and see how you go negotiating on the new joint. Term contracts are nothing to be afraid of, provided you know what you're after. I'm usually a lot more skeptical towards security companies who boast about NOT having a contract, which contains terms and conditions as well as service agreements in addition to any commercial agreements such as a fixed-term. Security/risk-management done on a handshake is a giant train-smash waiting to happen.
I haven't received my follow-up call yet. I thought I would get some money back as my package includes monitoring and guards to come out at no cost to me, and when the alarm is to be disconnected, they don't have to worry about this, the lady said no it's a lease, she used the mobile phone example, ie you sign up for 24 months at $50 a month, for 2 years you have to pay that. The only problem is at the end of the 2 years you own the phone, I have to hand all the alarm equipment back.
I have learnt alot from this.
Now I remember you.
If you're moving out, them removing the gear will help with your make-good. Although I suspect they may not come back for it. That's usually for people who don't pay their bills.
Unless they fail to live up to their end of the contract i cant see how you can get out of it.
I would be interested however to learn that as you are not the person who signed the contract whether you can renegotiate the terms.
Whooooooooosh....
