Default What do I need to Secure my Business.

Is anyone available to walk through my premises with me, and tell me what I need, what I don't need,

I'm basically after some advice, and would rather it unbiased.

I'm located in the Rivervale Area, A carton of beer and lunch can be arranged.

I'm chasing an alarm with camera with internet/smart phone access.

    Thanks

    Hi hughdman,
For professional advice I can Fly over from Canberra @$1,100 per day plus expenses , but I don't drink.
Free ( or beer and lunch) advice is often cheap and carries little credability.
When you say unbiased , do you mean you don't want to be Sold ? (like in a pup!)
Anyway sounds like you may want to look at an M1 Gold for an alarm, and a pacom 440 for CCTV

I think he means a local forum member with alarm experience, willing to help out.

Unbiased... meaning not trying to just push a particular product they sell, but to offer advice and options of what suits his requirements and budget.

mtv has hit the nail on the head,
I want a package which is right for me, not right for the company.
If someone is local and can spare a little of their time, I would be appreciative.

Plus expenses... flights, hire car, accommodation, meals, entertainment, etc.

I'm sure there's no shortage of us from the east coast willing to offer the same deal.

    Sorry Guy's,
As a security Consultant i get a little zealous with my responses, make assumptions and jump to conclusions and I should know better.
Should Hughdman have no luck, i would be happy to help from afar, email or phone

$1100 per day, I'm not going to give you 1/2 my daily rate.

You could always ring around and get a couple of quotes, ask questions and get the persons perspective on requirements. Look at different products and see what they do.

i have nothing to do with the security business, but i can tell you how to keep thieves out.
i had been broken into 5 times and could not get insurance so i checked out security dog trainers, not shit ones, real ones that had attack dogs, when i found the right place i bought 2 x 12 month old belgium shepherds put 3x2 mesh on the windows of the shop, and left the dogs there, not broken into again, at the time the dogs cost $2500 each, i think they would cost $4000 each now.

the young fella that was looking after the joint was going to be robbed by 2 fellas, he told them the money was kept out the back, and opened the door
and the dogs got the thieves, they were not a pretty sight.

Security consultant jumping to conclusions, making assumptions, suggesting on one hand an M1 with more features than the client is likely to use not to mention more expensive, and then a bottom end DVR? I'm confused.

Wth what you're doing, you really need a decent combination of physical and electronic security. You don't need to spend a fortune on an alarm or CCTV system but just remember you get what you pay for with CCTV.

Going out on a limb here and suggesting it's unlikley you'll require more than 16 zones. That leaves plenty of panels for you to choose from and most will do the job just as well as the next. Anything from DAS, ADI, Bosch, Security Distributors will be fine. You don't need bells and whistles, you just need something that's going to function reliably. That taken into account, the final decision on panel should really be determined by the number of device you require to adequately protect the premises and any future expanssion needs. You may find for instance that a Reliance R12 (12 zone) panel from DAS is all you'll ever need. Turn it on when you leave, and off when you return in the morning. Simple.

As for detection devices, again, most of the offerings from the suppliers mentioned will be more than adequate. Personally, Risco and Aritech from DAS and Optex from ADI are favourties. There are devices in each of those ranges to cover 99% of applications reliably.

As for communications, UC-351-3GS. Tripple path communications at your disposal should you so desire or dual path if for some reason you don't see the need.

Audio visual warning should be taken care of by multiple internal sirens and at least 1 satellite external siren. As I mentioned in my post about your windows, this will ensure you still have local external warning in the event the cables been cut to the siren.

CCTV, where to start. What you should be looking towards is a 720P IP system as a minimum but that's all going to depend on your budget. Also, are you hoping to identify individuals milling around the outside of the premises at night? The variables with CCTV are endless. Even after all of that, you may well decide that a cheap and chearful DVR recording at 2CIF is adequate for your needs and be satisfied with that.

So far as physical security, I went into that in my previous post. But again, it all comes down to how much you have to spend and what the risk to your premises is.

As an aside, you may also want to give consideration to the possibility of hold up during open/close given what you're planning here. IE: adequate lighting and a couple of decent cameras covering the area between the entry/exit point and your vehicle. Perhaps even a wireless panic button just in case that you/staff keep on them when closing and leaving.

Without seeing it, there are too many variables.
