    Default Tecom Buffer

Is there a way to empty the comms buffer of signals if you have been working on a panel , so it dosent send all the held signals in the comms buffer when you reconnect the phone line please

Annoying isn't it but no, there isn't to my knowledge. Unless you short the super cap which will also default the system for you

    Thumbs up

This may work, cant see any reason why not...
One of the comms types is "walk test" or something similar.
I dont have the comms type number at hand, but if you step through the types on a RAS I think it is the last choice. (type 15 maybe???)
This sends contact ID without waiting for any handshake signals from a receiver.
Set this up at the start of your site work so messages are sent as they happen and dont store for a big long burst when you finish. Makes things go a bit quicker.
So it will dump any stored messages even if you have the line unplugged.
Just dont forget to reprogram the correct transmission format after this is finished.

could reduce the amount of signals stored in the buffer prior to reconnection then after comms increase the buffer?

If the firmware is 8.128 or above menu 19 then 14 then 999 enter should do the trick.

    I second this.

Be careful, as Menu 19 --> 14 --> 99 will default the panel. I have had this happen as the '9' key was dicky and didn't register the 3rd '9' keypress.

    You could also try Menu 19 --> 14 --> 2 (Clear History/Computer Buffer)

Just on the note of excess signals. I instruct my techs to turn off Multi-break and restorals when performing maintenances. Helps reduce the traffic on the receivers.

5 years later but just wanted to say thanks, this got me out of a jam when I couldn't get hold of our installer before the weekend.

As secure said, it is ID 12 (at least for our Titan version).

Selecting that and waiting 10 mins, then reapplying original ID (4 for me) stopped the dialling attempts when I reconnected the line.

    Cheers!

    Guys just a follow-up.

19-14-999 will not remove the events in the buffer it is a reset for the IP card and also seems to restsart the lan. Nor will 19-14-2 remove the buffer but it will clear alarm history.

On a V8 change the the the event number in Comms 19-9 to 1 and restsart the panel. you will have just one event in the buffer.
once done you can reset the buffer to 255.
Our Navy do it when the ships head out to sea and are away from a land connection to monitoring and then reset it when berthed.
I wanted them to use CID via satelite phone but I guess the Tax payer was being thought about NOT.

    haven't played with it on a C10
