If the new company was any good, they will know how to get into installer mode with those D8 Alarm Panels. Its all in the manual which explains it very clearly.
I am not a most technical person but i have a NESS D8 alarm installed at my workplace. I have recently swapped security companies and the new company taking over the monitoring of the system keep giving me grief advising me that they can not get into "program mode" to change the settings so it will be compatible with their base.
I am being bounced back and forth from the new and old monitoring companies OLD: saying there is no installer code NEW: telling me they need the installer code or else the system is useless.
The new company didn't hesitate to offer me a new alarm system if i lock into a contract for 3 years but there must be a work around. Can someone please advise me how to login to "program mode" if i do not know the installer code? I know the master code but thats about it.
If there is a way can you please give me directions so i can call these people and give them a piece of my mind for wasting my time and trying to con money out of me.
Thanks

A simple Google search for "Ness D8 installation manual" will bring up a wealth of information. If your system is fairly new, then the D8x manual will apply. Page 13 details two ways to enter Program mode. One way needs the Installer code, the other way doesn't.
Just out of interest, why are you changing security companies?
makes you wonder about the capabilities of the "new" alarm company
Even if they didn't know how to get into programming a quick call to tech support would have sorted them out easily.
can you installer lock out D8s?
thats the only time we get hissy about it, oh and large sites that are complex.
Fact is its the property of the alarm system OWNER so I would tell your old Alarm company to either hand over the code or go to task.
its a pet hate of mine when there should be no such thing as intellectual property when you are paid an hourly rate to install something in the first place.
I paid a builder to put a wall in, does he now own the intellectual property on the design of the wall if he decides to pull it out? nope so why do install companys think its their right to hold the clients noose.

Well i had 3 sites and all 3 were with different companies. I decided to move everything to the 1 company, its probably against forum rules to mention the name.
I never had any issues with them, in fact they were quite good but they keep giving e grief with this D8 system. They say that without the installer code the system is useless.
If they dont know how to put a D8 in program mode without the installer code maybe they better close there doors

Can someone please tell me how this can be done? Everyone seems to think its simple but can you give me step by step directions to get into program mode without having the installer code?
heres one link that might help
or
as said in a earlier post page 13 explains on how to get into installer mode.
I know some monitoring companies do not have installer codes because the installer never gave the monitoring company the code, which might be this case.
I've just had another chat to this security company. They have said that once the alarm has a lock out code then there is no way they can get around it or default the system. .
Does this sound like bulls--t?
You can always ask your previous company (service/installation not monitoring) what the tech code was, if they refuse to hand it over advise them that the system is yours and so are all of the codes within that system including the tech code, so they better come out and default it for you and remove the installer default lock out or you will go to fair trading, also make sure they don't try to charge you for not handing over your property!
Easiest way to get what you want as a customer is to complain!
Failing that, a D8 pcb isn't too expensive, if your new company is charging you for the monitoring change over, it might be cheaper to just have them replace the pcb rather than d!ck around arguing with your old supplier for a tech code while the new guy charges you to figure it out!
Never heard of a Ness D8 having installer lockout
