Sorry mate i believe it's is a bin job.
For one you can't get spare parts for the C& K Panels.
So it is time for an upgrade
Hi all,
First post here, but a long time lurker.
Just looking for some advice, A mate has got a C&K systems 236i/L alarm system. Hasn't been used for 8 years, when it is on, the keypad has all lights on constantly but the buttons are non responsive, and the watchdog light is flashing on the control panel.
My question is having never worked on a c&k alarm myself would it be worth wasting time researching and fault finding or buying a new key pad etc, or should we just go buy a new paradox, hills, bosch etc etc system?
Also, which would be a good system up to $500, one with wireless remotes.
Thanks to anyone that can give some advice

It was crap 8 years ago. Now it is old crap.
The only thing you might consider before throwing it out, is putting it in the microwave for 5-10 minutes.
Are you trade? If not, your $500 won't go far. If so, I'd be spending a little bit more on any of those you're comfortable with and an IP communicator to a graded monitoring centre. Asking which one is like asking "Ford or Holden" and impossible to answer without knowing a bit about your skills and your mate's lifestyle. However I used to like the Bosch but have recently gravitated towards Paradox simply for the bells and whistles and the pretty touchscreen keypad. Then again, the Bosch will probably outlast us all.or should we just go buy a new paradox, hills, bosch etc etc system?

The good news is you can probably reuse most of the cabling.
Thanks the replys and advice,
I've got alot of experience concept only, I've got a paradox system in my unit with the tm40 touch screen, I found the paradox system to be a little limited for example you can't name users. But for the price compared to inner range, i'm not too worried about it.
Thanks
Second that! Everything has a label, zones, areas outputs & users. So impressed with the paradox range that I've put one in my house! However I do find it easier programming with the winload software.

I should have mentioned, not greeting users by name makes the whole exercise rather pointless. It is a stunning oversight in an otherwise very nice system.
Hey Markey , I have 6 C&K with codepads all tested, defaulted & working that I'll swap for two Mars Bars & a can of cioke. I am serious but you pay postage.

Hi watchdog, I need to replace one of my two C&K 238 LED codepads. I was just wondering if you have any 238 LED codepads available? If so, please let me know. I would be happy to buy one off of you and pay for postage if it was in good condition and the price is reasonable. Thanks, Steve
No 238s
I think I am going to invest in Mars Bars...
C&K was never that great a system even when it was first released. It fit a budget was about all I'll say for it.
I noticed someone mentioning Protege, and I'm liking Protege myself after accidentally stumbling onto them.
