I reckon its great because OPTEX have some very excellent gear which I have found to be very reliable in my few years as a alarm tech.
Optex are solid and reliable as is the Risco range. You struggle to separate them performance wise. It really is down to personal preference. If you prefer Risco, they're still available from Risco directly and Q-Vid (when they get their pricing sorted)
I received a NX kit the other day with Optex 'RX40's'.
These detectors are not the same RX40 as we have been used to for 10+ years, they are RX40 CORE detectors which i have been told are a cheaper detector (then the normal RX40QZ) and they look cheap too.
I will not use them for now........
Any contacts for Risco?
I don't bother with "bottom end" detectors. The RX40QZ are "optical" quads (whatever that means) rather than being a true 2 x physical side-by-side dual-element quad detector (such as the Bosch Gen2 quad). Sure the Bosch detectors cost a bit more, but they have excellent catch performance and work well on hot days (when it really counts).
So you wouldnt call DAS a distribution channel. My personal opinion is that they wont sell as much as they did when DAS was selling for them
I would have a month ago but not anymore . They may not sell as many detectors as such (not initially anyway) but they'll certainly expand on the products they get to market in Australia. Risco aren't just detectors.
I've installed hundreds of Optex FX-40's, for the money they are one of the best out there. Very few faulty ones, noisy relays and a little overactive with age is the only real
problems I've seen. I'm not sure why ADI aren't selling them anymore, or are they?
I heard today from DAS they will warrant OPTEX PIR's with a 5 year warranty
