I think its great.... So many young people started getting Tatts 15 years ago, so they could be tough.
So much so... it had discredited the group of people normally associated with Tattoos... The Bikie

So now the Bikie has stepped it up to the Face Tattoo! To once again regain that status.
Then watch as the wannabe tough guys start getting face tatts.

Each to their own... But you'd have to be missing a lot of love in your life to feel the need to de-face yourself

My heritage is Maori and well remember feeling my Grandfathers face and he telling us his Ta moko - traditional Māori tattooing, was a taonga (treasure) and signified his (and subsequently our) social standing.
Every moko contains ancestral / tribal messages specific to the wearer. These messages tell the story of the wearer's family and tribal affiliations, and their place in these social structures.
While my fathers and my generation tended to avoid the practice, (it is incredibly painful as the Traditional ta moko is distinct from tattoo because the skin is carved using uhi or chisels rather than punctured with needles, leaving the skin with grooves rather than a smooth surface.) there seems now a traditional move back.
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

Good to see that some tattooists are refusing it.
I can never understand why young pretty girls need to disfigure themselves with silly writing all over themselves lately, even face.

Perhaps they should only allow face tattoos to the over 55's, as they are not getting a decent job any more if they haven't got one, unless the skills are so high that nobody cares about the face.

Of course gang members can be exempt so we immediately know who we won't deal with.

What amuses me now days, is white people, with no maori/islander blood or heritage, that get tribal tattoos.

They are nearly as funny as the people that get chinese writing and think it says "peace" when in fact it says "I am a fried turd"
Wouldnt you think that the first thing you would do before getting a foreign language tattooed on you would be to check what it means ?

Agreed, but beyond that I wouldn't have the nerve, I've seen the traditional (Maori) done and can only imagine the pain, even the thought of traditional tattooing scares the shit out of me.

And I know this has been around as a joke for years but I honestly used to go out with a girl that had a very attractive Chinese tattoo around , lets say her 'nether' regions - it was well positioned, in a nice scripts etc etc. it just looked good. I found out years later that it translated as 'Pay as you enter' I have no idea if she knew or not - I get the feeling she selected simply on the aesthetic value

I think its women trying to look hip and guys wanting to look tough.

The women will grow older and regret it, looking like real scrubbers.

The guys will learn while some men may shy away from them making them feel tough, there are others who know better know that under the tattoos are just flesh and blood and are not intimidated by it...its those that the tattoed have to watch out for....

I have no problem with those who have tattoos that are covered, these people mainly have a emotional statement/attachment to their art.

I can just picture what a employer or bank manager thinks when someone with facial tattoos is sitting on the other side of the desk.

A person i know who is heavily covered was telling me the other day how the police pester him by pulling him over just because of his body art. I said, wonder why?

Those are simply ridiculous. Who in their right mind would tattoo their face? One's face is the first thing that's seen when a new person is met and most judgements are made based on it. It's also very negative in the general opinion of the public, especially when it comes down to using social services of any sort and/or employment.

There is a woman who lives here in town that has a facial tattoo. She's clearly an islander and she looks like she's in her 60's.
I think it's interesting and she's obviously had it most of her life.

However, facial tattoos are a useful social tool. They let everybody know that this person is a dickhead before they can inflict their actions upon somebody else.
I'm glad Mike Tyson got one, else people might suspect he had something intelligent to say.
I'm hoping several people can hold down Anthony Mundine as a service to the community.

I heard a woman say that she wanted to get a tattoo of Anthony's face on her arse. Now I'm thinking it would be much better if her arse was tattooed on his face.

But when it comes down to it, I'm all for people doing anything that makes them happy.
If getting a tattoo makes you happy, then go for it.

I decided to get my pussy tattooed.
Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.
