You proably waste more than €5 EUR every week. That is a very poor excuse and you obviously don't take supporting the forum very seriously at all then.

Just click on 'Upgrade Account' on the top of the page in the menu bar and help keep this great site going.

Regardless of adsense advertising.... it's a great way of supporting the site.
But if there is no real tech content and links etc to software then what is the point? People aren't going to join to post in the General section. They can just read the news paper online.

If you want people to come here then there needs to be a balance. You can't just stop all links to other sites with 'questionable' content. Part of running the site is copping the heat that comes from people like Irdeto for example in the past. Maybe the passion for running the site has been lost and therefor the interest in keeping it running like in the past?

Making rude gestures is probably against adsense rules!

    Your best is piss weak.

    So true.

Imagine no Austech and tell me there are better options.

The time and money I have saved from information on this site would pay my premium membership ten-fold at least.

I'm still failing to see what real income is achieved through google, I am also finding it hard to understand why running a forum this size is so expensive? when there are so many hosting packages available out there and very competitive in pricing, there is no way known I would allow any site like google dictate what content I have on A site that I own and run!

Three Google Adsense models exist - don't know which one was valid at AUSTECH: CPC ( cost-per-click ), CPM ( cost-per-mille ) and CPE ( cost-per-engagement ). All have in common: The compensation that Google pay to website owner is always determined by the click behavior from the users. The more clicks on ads included in a website, the more money the owner of the website earns.

Resume: the income from Google Adsense is for the website owner unpredictable.

    BTW:

Serious Internet consultans advise website owners not to add ads to Web pages, which have less than 1,000,000 page views a month: the amount of possible earnings isn't worth the frustration of the website visitors due to the many advertising.

Not to forget that more and more Internet users block Google Adsense via their PC's HOST file, as this is regularly advised by (European) computer magazines. I also did so. Owners of a website probably will take this into account, too.

Fact is, as long as Google Adsense on the AUSTECH forums' pages with Google ads doesn't find words that violate their "policies", Google AdSense will be run.

Why not simply disable Google Adsense on the "General Chat" forum? Doing so the problems you pointed out should be solved: Words as "tits","boobs","penis","dick","cock" and so on - usually used on adult websites - mainly are to be found in the "The Joke thread".

Whats the world coming to when we are not allowed to use "certain words" in discussion & chat forums or Joke threads, or anywhere else, without the possibility of being penalized .....

words like ISIL, Terrorists, Naked (ADSL ...women ... etc ) come up in discussions, & pictures etc are also used in discussions etc ... doesn't mean people who use these words are worthy of being penalized ?

Google acting as the Police risk creating a Paranoid Web, & crippling free speech

Complaints to Google about a site can also be unfounded .....

At least you got a better response than I did for the same suggestion.

Maybe it's not what you say but the way that you say it.

Welcome to our newest member, kyuss"

How many premium members are there?
How many premium members would it take to fully fund this forum?
    Perhaps a poll is needed.
Would reducing the cost of membership increase the uptake?
Are you willing to pay for the benefit you receive?

I think that a lot of people do not value what is freely given.

I think we need to know what path Admin is going to take, I for one don't have any problems upgrading my membership but would not be happy if the site is shut down in a couple of months time

I think Admin is looking to the forum population for support and we should all be prepared to help in any way we can.

I find it ironic that Google, being based in the USA where freedom of speech is enshrined in law, should impose censorship on others.
Yet another example of PC madness.

    I'm glad to hear it.
Now put your money where your mouth is.

I feel strongly about this forum and would not like to see it fail for lack of member support.
I am on record as being willing to pay more to keep it going.
If Admin requires assistance to maintain the site I am willing to volunteer.
If I am out of line let the members judge me.
