You would be surprised at how much of our society is founded upon "religious" (mainly Christian) values. I see no problem with making an "affirmation of oath" but I will not swear upon any religious book. The Bible, which seems to be the book of choice for such things, expressly forbids swearing upon it or any other object, It actually commands you to let your yes be yes and your no, no!

It surprises me when those who claim no religious affiliation then go on to blame "God" for natual disasters (insurance companies, anyone) or take His name in vain. We never hear anyone yelling out "Oh Mahommed" when they hit their finger with a hammer, I wonder why that is?

Oh, I don't know about that, my version is somewhat shorter, but means the same thing, I just wouldn't want to waste my breath.

The next thing will be doing away with swearing an Oath of Aligence when joining the Military or Swearing/Promising to tell the Truth in a Court of Law, not that anybody does of course.

If people want to hold dedicated classes of religion or formal ceremonies, then I have no problem with that so long as its not compulsory but taken to the broadest extreme, its like wanting to be in a raffle, you cant have a ticket unless you pay for it..........

because they do not believe in Christianity god, have you ever heard one "I swear to god bro", have you ever tried to make them swear to Allah they won't do it,

but they have no issues throwing the "god" word around no problem.So what do they do get on their knees in court and kiss the judges feet praying for innocence’s?

Chieflets, Muslims have been able to swear on the Qur'an in Australian courts for decades.

Muslims also agree that the word God and Allah are interchangeable. They both refer to the same mythical entity who 'sent' Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed as His prophets.

Just a suggestion; perhaps you should actually find out a little bit about Islam before you comment on it.
