Default PS3 Yellow light of Death / 3 Beeps of Death

Has anyone seen a fix the PS3 yellow light of death???

I have a 60g PS3 that when powered on beeps 3 time the light goes yellow and then powers down with a red flashing light!!

I have stripped it down and done some experimenting.

I know it is a problem with the Main Board.

I have systematically used freeze spray on different components of the main board. No Good

I have tried systematically heating parts of the main board. No Good

I have tried flexing the main board. This boots a little longer and the blue led flashes, but crashes before displaying any video.

Any other suggestions???

No error codes, as soon as you power it on it beeps three times the light goes yellow then powers off immediately with the light flashing red.

AFAIK all PS3's are currently still under warranty.
You need to go to a post office & they will give you a post bag pre paid by sony & they fix it for free & send it back..... Unless the warranty seal has been broken

yeah send it back for warranty for sure , the only hassle you will get is if the seal has been broken or it is an OS model
yellow light is a general hardware failure , bit like the console knowing there is something worng , but having no idea what it is

As there isnt any mods for the PS3 yet it makes it hard for us modders to experiment/diagnose much with them.....although faulty lasers seem fairly common by now

Hi Oz & Fernbay,

Got a customers PS3 here with this same problem as above, He says its 2 years old, Doesnt appear to have been opened and was doing some research on whats causing the problem when I stumbled accross your replies here so your more in the know than me about this problem but accourding to Sonys Website the warranty period for PS3's is only 12 months. Do you guys know if the warranty period has been extended for this problem or something, Similar to the 360 red light of death problem, If its still covered by some sort of extended warranty then I will get him to send it back to Sony.

Thanks

My 60gig PS3 started doing this a couple of days ago. Shamrock Electronics here in Canberra repaired it for me. Cost me $80. Dropped it off at 2pm, and he had it fixed by 7pm that night!
Might be worth your while sending it to him to fix.
