| Member | I've had this Samsung rear projection TV for quiet sometime now. Last night it was working fine, and this evening it's not. The cleaner was at our house last night, so my current theory is they possibly knocked it, but obviously I'll never know if that's the case. My question however, is does anyone know if it's fixable (when I say fixable I mean first of all possible to be fixed, and secondly worth fixing - i.e. no point in spending a grand fixing it considering the price of another)? Now before anyone says stuff it and go buy and LCD/Plasma/whatever - that's a last resort as I've been very happy with this TV (until now). From what I hear Plasmas are unreliable aswell and LCD's in a decent size (I'm not willing to go smaller than this current TV which is 125cm) are pretty exy for a uni student... So the problem seems to be that the green of the picture is in the wrong spot. From what I can see, the rear projection TV's have three colour projectors (red, green and blue), so I'm wondering if the green therefore is maybe out of whack (not aligned with the other two) - possibly from the cleaner knocking it? The TV has an auto focus feature which I've run 5 times now and it hasn't helped. Pictures tell a thousand words (not the greatest pictures though): This picture shows how the green is 'out of place' - I've circled it in red and drawn an arrow to show were it's ment to be: ![]() ![]() The problem is worse up the top of the screen compared to down the bottom, down the bottom the green is a bit out of place, but not that bad: ![]() ![]() |

![]() | If you are not comfortable with a multimeter and a soldering iron, I would suggest you call your local TV service centre and have your wallet ready.... |

I'm good with automotive electrics. I've never dealt with household stuff though. My old mans an electrical engineer, but he's away with work for the next 3 weeks. Yeah, I'm guessing that taking it to a service center will be exy - generally they charge just to quote... | |

| Senior Member | The annual hard rubbish is happening in our area. I've seen 2 newish looking Samsungs on nature strips the past month. And the people who owned them didn't look too well off. I suggest you turf the tv's as well. Their current Value in working condition won't be anywhere near as much as what the Repairman gonna charge you. Or get the TV man to repair it, and then tell him to shove it up his arse! |
