    Default DLP projector Vibrating badly

    Hi

Looking at a DLP projector that is vibrating and making a loud noise, the picture is fine and clear other that the imaging shaking due to vibration. what would the likly issue be. it is a plus projector

Could it be a fan blade? or is it more likely the Colour weel? if the colour weel is off balence would that make the image bad?

    Regards

I think it could be either because some but some DLP's have cooling fans very close to the optical engine.

Whats the Brand and Model number.

Ok i've never worked on that model before. Looks like your going to have to pull it apart and manually check all the fans.

Is it likely to be fixable? can you put a standard fan into the prjector?

    Regards

If it is just one of the cooling fans you should be able to get a substitute easily.

If it is the colour wheel that is faulty ? I would think your would have to replace it with an origional part. Plus does have a website (American) but I don't know if parts are avaiable in Australia.

when powering down the projector the sound and shaking remains till cooldown finnishes. this is likely fan then isnt it or does the colour wheel continue to spin on cooldown?

If it's doing it on cool down I would expect it to be a cooling fan problem. If the fans are the same as computer fans you may be able to put a little crc onto the sleeve/bearing shaft that might quiten it down.

concur with mick on that one, the colour wheel doesn't spin during "cool down" only the fans, probably ones lost a fin, they should be 12volt cooling fans just the same as a computer fan, just be mindful if its got 3 wires then you'll have to replace it with the same
When I explained to the guy what avatar I wanted, that wasn't what I meant!

The issue does seem to be the colour wheel. where can i get another colour wheel for this? i have tried to send off to a local buisness through a local business that services projectors and they have not replied.

    Regards
