Default Can't record enough video clips.

I have a TEVION DVD Recorder with a 160 Gig Hard Disk.
I can record up to 999 Video Clips on the hard disk and no more , even though I still have plenty of space.

I also have a similar LG.

The Tevion is starting to play up so I attempted to copy those clips onto the LG.
Seems the LG can only store 255 Video Clips , so I basically wasted 4 hours of time.

Is there anything I can do to get at least 999 Video Clips on to the LG?
Some sort of software update or summink?
The Clips are of Greyhound races and having a clip for each race makes the one i need easy to find.

Maybe best I just purchase a New one.
Seems they under $200 these days.

Can you transfer them to a larger external HDD or as suggested, transfer them to CD/DVD?

I have tried the CD/DVD thing.
I forget what went wrong there.
I have a feeling that each race was like 20 Megs and that means I co....
Hang on - I could fit 200 on a disc
Nah , that can't be right.

I'll have another try and see what happens.
Maybe I had no idea what I was doing

If the clips are around 20MB each, you'll fit over 200 on a standard DVD, but only around 35 on a CD.

    nah baseel.
I can do 999 clips on the Tevion
    999 is good.
    But the Tevion is dying.
So I wish to use the LG before it dies completely
Its the LG that only holds 255.

And the significance of the 255 is that it is a digital number like that there is only 255 bits of memory to store titles.
If I could double that to 512 or 1012 (1k) then that would do it.

f you've got an LG that can record and the Tevion that can't then connect the output of the Tevion to the input of the LG, play the file on the Tevion and record to disc on the LG, a bit clunky but it will get the files off the Tevion and onto disc
Statistically, three out of five people are not the other two

    Yeah - Thanks Jokin'
But I wish I never posted now.
All my stuff I find in the street.
And yes - The LG doesn't play discs either
What I think I may do is to try again loading the Video Clips into my Computer.
Then I'll see how many Megs they use per each.
If not too much I will install a 40 or 80 Meg Hard Disk and slap them onto that.

Or better still , spend $200 on a PVR and the jobs done.
Us tightarses are little hard to understand.
I sure as hell can't work myself out most times.

    Thanks everyone.

by PVR if you're referring to a set top box with built in hard drive that won't do it unless you buy a more expensive one that has analogue inputs, doesn't sound like it's in your budget

nah - PVR is the wrong word then.
Another DVD Recorder is what I need I guess.
But a Real One what works.

I need to record the Races from my satellite Foxtel
Or Cable Foxtel if I go to that.
The races i already have on disk I won't need in a 3 months time as I only need from the current date back for 3 months.
so if the Tevion lasts 3 months then thats fine.

You can get cheap HD STB's eg 'Strong' for <$50 that have full PVR functionality via the USB port. Simply plug in an external USB HDD and record away, they handle 500gB+ drives but you might need a power injector for reliable operation unless you get one of the HDDs with their own mains power supply as the boxes have trouble with USB powered units like the 'goflex' etc. An advantage is you can simply plug the drive into your PC to copy or burn the files.

My Television has a USB thing on it.
I'll have a read of the User Manual and see if something can come of that.
