Default DVD to AVI

What are your recommendations for good, professional software to rip a DVD to an AVI file?

Will AutoGK do the reverse? Divx to Dvd?

If not can someone please recommend a program that will do it. I have searched and there are many but I would prefer someones opinion rather than the hype they post trying to push a product on the net.

Thank you

I find ConvertXdvd for Divx to DVD and DVD Fab Platinum for DVD to Divx to be good

Hi Sericom,

Thanks for the reply, I have DVD Fab, but I must be blind, I can't see that option, unless my version is limited.

I have used the Cyberlink DVD suite on my XP machine to do avi to dvd but the results were ordinary.

If ever I do do a avi/mpg/mp4 to VOB (dvd) I use Nero Vision Express or WinDVD Creator. But as I have a media player and a DivX player, it seems pointless.

Thanks Redwight, I have the same and its useless.

Thanks Porkop, I found it in my software file. The reason for the conversion is that I was given some kids Dvix movies and I want to pass them onto some friends unfortunately they have old dvd players which don't handle these files.

Cheers

Thanks Porkop, didn't know that version Nero did the conversion. I have nero Start smart and it couldn't do it so i thought I wouldn't bother the express version.

Note that Nero Vision Express as I know it is used in dvd making, it is different to normal Nero.
