    Default VGA to HDMI

I wasn't quite sure where to put this.
So apologies if it's in the incorrect place.

I have a TV at the office with HDMI inputs but has no analogue VGA input for laptops.
Many of our laptops are older types without HDMI outputs.
I need a cable / adaptor or device that allows for Laptop VGA out to TV HDMI In
The problem is, that although there are heaps of shonky cables and devices on EBay (I've tried many of the low end ones that just don't work)
I need one that works but will also work without drivers being installed under windows 7
Just Plug and Play so to speak

Can anyone point me to something they know of or have tried.
    Thanks
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

I've seen adapters at Jaycar Electronics but I don't think they were particularly cheap.

You need more than just a cable. You need one that actually converts the analog signal to a digital signal. I was looking at them the other week, and (from memory - which is quite poor due to a lot of drinking) the cheapest I found was around $24.

    Cheers.
When I was a kid, I used to have an imaginary friend. I thought he went everywhere with me. I could talk to him and he could hear me, and he could grant me wishes and stuff too. But then I grew up, and stopped going to church.

Here's a Chinese special for 1/4 the price if you can wait the 3 weeks.

    Cheers.

With respect, I think you have misread it.
"Connect older PCs up to more modern displays such as LCD's and plasma screens. Just plug the VGA and USB cable into your PC and it will output a HDMI signal with audio/video."

You're right, sorry I did misread it.
    Thanks again
    cheers

    Just a side note:
I actually purchased a number of $2 to $5 options off eBay trying to find a cheap way out and when none of them worked I actually pulled a few of the cables to bits only to find they were just shells - no connection whatsoever - they were essentially deliberate rip offs, makes you wonder why they do it, Fair enough the are probably going for the numbers but I can't understand why there is no negative feedback, I actually left negative feedback which I could see for a few days but when I went back to the seller a few days later my negative had disappeared - some sort of rort going on

yep I was warned from making negative feedback on eBay, after being ripped off; then making a deal with the seller for a nearly amicable settlement after I spoke with him on the phone & threatened him with the fraud squad (against eBay rules by the way), a couple of years ago. So I left neutral feedback with some very interesting wording to create doubt in anyone's mind that read it.

The seller, who had 98% positive feedback, ended up being prosecuted by the fraud squad, for several breeches of the law, wonder how that happened??
Guess more people got ripped off than me & one of them was probably a cop.
He probably thinks it was me, nah, I bet he'd been threatened a few times.

Does amaze me that the cables weren't even connected, shit they could have at least attached them to something.
    Cheers, Tiny
