Apparently it needs a new HDMI board (Has DSP chip on it), will Onkyo replace for free? Or does someone know how to repair.
Hi guys, A 9-Ch Onkyo home theatre amp I installed has now got no sound from the main speakers in zone 1, zone 2 & 3 are working. I have reported this to Onkyo but heard nothing yet. Reset the setup still the same, Checked the firmware and found DSP 1st & 2nd shows question marks like its corrupt or missing maybe. Tried to do a firmware update but the locations in menu are greyed out. I imagine the main speakers use the DSP for processing and that isn't working. Anyone with experience on this. One thing I did find is that the HDMI board stopped working after I took it apart looking for faults, No power from 12V supply but it's supply cap had 12V. Found one of the through board links had failed. Wonder if there are more elsewhere.

nah, just replace the dsp/hdmi, all sound goes through the dsp before going to the amp pcb, even on "straight", well known issue on both integra and onkyo

that is easier than going through the other message way....
would you have any idea where to purchase that specific HDMI board?
What do you think about the hair dryer solution?
kind regards
Uli
I'll tell you how to check,
turn on unit leave run for 5 mins, then turn back to standby
turn unit back, then hold down "display" button hit standby
within 2 secs press "Tune +" keep pressing, the display will scroll through all the software versions in unit
If it displays "DSP??????????" at any point dsp software is shagged
Replace DSP, in Australia Amber Technology
