Default Kingray KDM-01 AV to DVB-T Modulator

    Hi all,

Has anyone ever used the Kingray KDM-01 AV to DVB-T modulator? I want to use one to send Foxtel through to other rooms.

    Thanks Phoenix

I've never used one personally, but don't doubt it will work fine, as I've used many Kingray amps and modulators.

The only restriction is it is composite/S-Video only... no component or HDMI, so you will be limited to comparatively low quality pics.

You Foxtel box may also be a single video output selected at a time, so that would mean if you are currently using HDMI output, you will lose that if you change to composite 576i output.

Thanks MTV, my current setup runs the (really) old Pace 420 STB from which I currently run the RF output to the rest of my TV's. The quality isn't exactly great but can't expect too much either. I've tried a few A/V to analog modulators and they aren't much better. The A/V signal into the locally TV isn't 'too' bad and I'm really just trying to squeeze the best I can for say $500 out of the existing box. As much as I would like to go to Foxtel HD and a HDMI to DVB-T modulator, which start at $1000+, the cash don't go that far...

That being the case, this modulator will be far superior to the analogue modulators you've used previously.

If you plan on mixing the modulator output with FTA antenna signals, you need to ensure the levels are balanced and not overloading, otherwise you may introduce reception issues.

Depending what FTA frequencies are used in your area, selecting a UHF output frequency which is at least two channels away from the nearest off-air channel will also minimise potential interference issues.

Well lashed out and got the KDM-01, not bad works pretty well, runs a little warm if anything. Running on composite video at the moment but I'll try the S-Video on the weekend might get a little better.

Looks like a rebadged version of

I used the several years ago to distribute what was then Austar using S-video, haven't had any issues or callbacks yet.

Changed to S-video today and the quality is better and all the TV's being fed from the unit have as good a picture as the composite direct to a local TV.

Antennaman, yep looks exactly the same, pretty good unit for $450 from RPG.
