    Hi there, two questions:

    1. Did your DVD recorder come from Panasonic Australia?
    2. When you opened the box, was there a white sticker across the top of the box stating "Inspected by Panasonic Australia"?

DVD recorders destinied for the Australian market are opened by panasonic when they arrive here and they set them to Region 0 before releasing them to the retailers.

    1. unit came from clive peeters in australia

    2. yes there was sticker saying Inspected by Panasonic Australia, but the unit was locked to region 4 only as my USA zone one disc came up will an error stating disc in drive from wrong region.

So I used the laptop ir port and sent the region free code to it. now it works with all my usa discs and uk discs I have

Excellent find hoe and Adobe. Although mine was already region free.
Does any1 know of ability to bypass those User Prohibitions (P-UOPs) like the FBI warnings etc.
An old TEAC had firmware for it but I have not been able to find it for any Panasonics.
    Cheers.

Default Doesn't work for me. Help appreciated

I've been trying WINSAMP from a laptop on a Panasonic DMR EX77.

The irda connection works between computers OK but I cannot get a response out of the EX77.

I have tried setting up < 1m between devices but still nothing happens.

My laptop doesn't have a COM2 port so I use COM1 WINSAMP seems OK with this if I give it a c1 parameter on load.

Any help appreciated. Failing that is there anyone around Canberra who could help with this mod?

    Done it.
Had An Old Dell PDA with Infra red. A Client of mine has a heap old region 1s and was looking to get a vcr/dvd burner combo Panasonic model, so he lent me a few region 1 dvds. would not play them at first. put software for tv remote into pda and let her rip. works no probs both region 1 and region 4 now. Sweet
client will now purchase the Combo to transfer his old vcr to dvds
    Thanks Fellas.

most panasonic repairers have the magic button remote which will unlock the units for all region.
if you arent keen to go thru all this setup and infrared transmit from laptop just pop into your local panasonic repairer with a 6 pack of coke/beer cans and ask nicely. they will fix it for you. it just depends on how many other units i have in pieces on the bench at the time if i can fit yours in!

    Default recording ntsc tapes?

    Hi all,

Do you know if this will help with recording ntsc tapes to dvd?

I've been told that the unit won't be able to copy a tape that's in ntsc format.

I'm using a Grex to bypass copy protection which works excellently for pal tapes but when trying to copy ntsc ones the horizontal picture positioning shifts up so that the top of the image is at that the bottom of the screen. It's not a tracking issue and I've been told by the Grex guys that it's an ntsc/pal incompatibility problem.

Does anyone know any work arounds?

    Thanks,
