If you have been running SMP Clients 5.91 or 5.92 you will find they have expired if you restart the client. ie if you use a shortcut to start it the cmd window just flashes up and closes straight away.

You can either update to SMP 6.22 beta Folding Forum • View forum - Windows v6.22 Beta with -smp specified or download a replacement 5.91 or 5.92 exe with a later expiry date of 02/11/08 Folding Forum • View topic - 5.91 and 5.92 deprecated but extended .

Running 6.22 beta on one PC for a few days and the PPD seem about the same, but the % of CPU usage is weird... about 50% for one client, or 80-90% for 2. It is talked about on their forums, but doesn't appear to be a huge issue.

Just updated to 6.22 beta and it seems to be working fine. Just dont make same mistake as i did, and try to run it initially without the -smp switch otherwise u will be running a non smp client !

Can anybody explain how to get the -smp override working 'cause I can't think it out at this stage.

What do you mean Redwight? I have created a shortcut with the additional switches, ie "C:\Program Files\F@H-1\F@H.exe" -smp -forceasm -deino -verbosity 9, ps renamed the exe to F@H.exe from the real long version.

I think this version is suss, have only got a couple WUs through OK, but have got a problem with WU 2665 repeatedly resending but not being accepted. Problem is it knocks out my internet out for about the 30 minutes it takes to send the 21Mb result back. Have posted over at their forum about this.

I've worked out the windoze version now and the Folding forum shows no commas at all, in that regard they missed the boat.
Any tips on the linux one?

Do you mean when u run it initially or just running the client normally ?

Either way, all u have do do is this............

C:\FAH\Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe -smp -deino

Of course you can add other flags as well if u like.

On different PCs with different versions of project 2665 I have send failure problems, it sends the 21Mb but then gets, "Unknown packet returned from server, expected ACK for result". So it sends again and again....

Dropped the 5.92beta exe extended beta from my first post into the 6.22 folder, restarted without the smp and denio switches and the WU that couldn't be sent was sent ok and the current partially completed WU has continued to fold ok.

The SMP client keeps running into issues on the main PC, I've given up on it. Now I'm experimenting with the GPU2 client and that seems to be more stable and consistant at this stage.
