[QUOTE The key is to ask nicely and praise Mr GW on his great work, because I don't think he got much of that on this forum.[/QUOTE]

I'm willing to beg and grovel. Mr Greywolf holds a lot of power around here.

i read in some forum that mr.greywolf had purposely put in the number of user limitation to limit the use of GWM for non-commercial use only. If it's true....then he'll probably not change his position on this...no matter how many thank yous or praises he gets...

hmmm.....Yes i read this also wonder how many users...? I think z80 once said 20 users but i cant be sure it was his post...

I also read that perhaps there is a private version of GWM as opposed to the public avail version...

20 users is more than enough for me, but unfortunately im reaching a 10 user limitation with my copy of GWM which I got from this thread page 1.

For me running CCcam as the Tier 2 server now enables as many users as I want, I have not tested the limitations of my setup beyond around 12 CCcam users as my interest in CS is for fun not $ and I dont have that many DMs

What I can say is that if Mr GW wants a contribution for the hard work he has put in, i would not say no! even though we all like freebeze

By the same token, anything over 10 users starts to look like a commercial setup.
Also when the author starts to charge money for his software its no longer a hobby either, it becomes a commercial gain.

When we ask for an upgrade I am happy with a 10 user limitation, I just want stability in the program.

point taken STI02, im happy also for a more stable version, perhaps im just pushing the limits of the software.

its just interesting that issues arise with > 6 users
In asking for > 10 and < 20 users to work it also enables other functionality like multiple card readers with different providers eg com1 and com2 attached to the same GWM instance and certain users on one card and certain on the other... nothing to do with commercial setup just functionality

I understand you can always run up two instances of GWM on different ports, but i like to be difficult!

I have been having a play with Grey Wolf also. It has been running on an old laptop (Pentium 3) with Windows 2000.

How much of a difference would it make if I had Grey Wolf running off Windows 2003 server (including all MS Updates etc)?

YES I know I can do this and see what happens, but I would need to get another Laptop/PC to do this anyway....

More importantly I am interested if someone has already done this exercise and can advise if there was little or major differences.
I know Z80 has reported earlier in this thread having no issues with his Grey Wolf setup using Windows 2003 Server

Any info would be great.

Stop being difficult ...

Look at it this way with multiple instances of GW you increase reliability, in a sense if one copy freezes or craps itself you have another one running, where as if you run 1 copy two reader (com1 & 2) & GW sneezes all your connections are lost. Just a thought...........

Anything close to 10 is commercial use in my books. Another thread was closed because of this talk, I hope it doesn't happen here. uflca's talk about it being for educational purposes is crap, so let's move on.

Hillsbysa

Im disapointed in your comments they are untrue and unjust, and there has been previous talk by senior members within this forum about the GWM 20 user limitation amoungst other things and I can quote them if necessary, why did you not post "crap" messages at that time to those senior members siting that they are using software for commercial purposes?

If I have 3 sites (whatever they are holiday houses etc my personal premises) each with 3 Dms (kids room etc) and I want to experiment with DMs and CS via GWM (by the way thats 9 users to GWM) why should that be called "commercial"

move onto to what...? Talking about baking a cake?
Isnt this thread to talk about issues we are experiencing with GWM?

I just providing some realistic results that i have experienced using GWM perhaps I will remain quiet and not provide feedback in this open forum.

My appologies if I have offended anyone or taken this thread into disrepair...Admin can remove my posts as they like

ill switch to the food channel now and watch jamie olliver bake a cake.

10 users and its commercial...? thats crap!

Mate don't get ahead of yourself, discussing a hobby software is not going to get any thread closed.

You're entitled to your opinion but don't go rubbishing others' opinions.
And I agree with uflca, 10 or more is not necessarily commercial.

I am with you on this weirdo, some people just like to hear their own voice (or text), 10 connection are nothing now that STB are dirt cheap you can afford to have one in everyroom and anywhere else you like.

Listen carefully.

Windows XP has a 10 user connection limit.
Greywolf has a 20 user connection limit.

What you gonna do now?

LMAO....no matter how many times it gets posted it keeps coming up.

But if you want to get over it in a dirty filthy disgusting way...

do a search for "windows xp connection limit crack"

It replaces the TCPIP.SYS file and allows as many connections as you like.

</>

Card splitters don't work with greywolf. I have tried it.

(works okay with newcs, but with no cacheing it pixellates furiously after a while)
