jimbo123, Decapper was asking about greywolf 863b as server and was asking if it was having problems updating the card or was it the dreambox client, greywolf 863b did not update the card without a humax in the loop.

cccam 2.0.5 and above as server/client was updating whiteys, I don't know about now though..

yep i hear 2.08 works well but if there is a humax in the mix with gwm and it is handling all the updating there are no issues what so ever with pixilation/intermittent freezing so its not gwm that has the issues with the new card but the decoders and their software

2.08 is working well for me.
I recall I tried 2.05 before I even knew 2.08 was out and it did not read the new card os v5.3 which is why I went to 2.08.

Not really experiencing breakups just pixilation.

Im begining to agree with Fandtm666 its the the dedoders that are causing the issue here...I have dedicated a single DM to do updates and its looking ok at the moment.

Default Sharing With Greywolf

Hello guys , very nice job in this forum . OI am using a phoenix card reader with a win xp server and greywolf . As client in the lan have a dm500 and a skystar with progdvb and wincsc . I have the following problem after an hour system is working i have a black screen and have to put card in dm and open it and then back in the phoenix . My question is : have to connect dm to my com with a serial so it does the updates and doesn't suck after an hour ??? i am trying to use 863 v as I can't get connected my DM with 0.71 . Any suggestions???Using a IR2 v 5.4 card ( 4026 ) . Thanks and best regards to all the experts in here

Default continue

forgot to say i use cccam 2.09 in DM and works perfectly either as a client from greywolf either just to read card in slot . What is remote card in the greywolf???Does it have to do only when puuting a humax in the loop as you say ( never understood exact the connection ) . Thanks again

The dm should be connected over LAN/WAN not serial.
The humax can be used via serial comport if it's not hooked up to a BF unit.
Use GWMidnight instead of v836.

you could also try connecting the cardreader to the serial port of the dream and use ccam to share.

You mention that you are using a V5.4 card. Is this from Australia? If so GW won't work and you will experience the problems you are having. If not then I'd be getting GWM ver 071 going so your dreams can update your card. Also make sure that allow emm from at least one of your clients is selected. There is a little how to guide further back in this thread.

Picture this setup - GWM 071 running on a PC, Dreambox and CCcam 2.0.5 (with the N line) connected via a WAN. My friend says the card works ok for a day or two then the picture freezes requiring the card to go back into the DB. How to overcome this issue, he asks?

I've seen the blocking script, but that's to stop pixellation I thought.

It's a two part solution:
Get all clients on CCcam 1.71 (This reduces the overhead on the server as 1.7.1 doesn't update the card)
One Client runs 2.08 or 9 with the B: (This reduces the overhead on the server by stopping the constant unnecessary updates)
The script will allow the 2.0.8 client to disable the B: for a short period of time to allow the card to update, instead of trying to update all day long.
The above combinations will result in a setup that updates the card with very minimal pixelation.

Keep in mind it all has to run on either a dreambox as a server or a pc running linux + CCcam as server.

Hope this clarifies it for few people.

Still focusing on GWM 071 with newcamd as the server...
Will upgrading the client to CCcam 2.0.8 make a difference (as opposed to CCcam 2.0.5) and if so, why ?

i belive the answer is yes, run 2.05 in debug mode (-d option) then run 2.08/9 in debug mode and have a look and the amount of updates that run through.

Im using 2.09 with script to update for 10 mins, the rest of my clients I block server side (im not using GWM anymore, im using CCcam also as server). So I block everyone in the F: line apart from I box for EMM updates and also have the script running for 10 mins.

Works very well.

Im agree with STI02 comments above that by reducing the traffic to the GWM server you will be better off.

cccam 208/9 send a flood of traffic and that's what apparantly causes the all the pixelation and hence the use of the B: line.
I can't remember the technical explanaton as to why dreamboxs connected to GWM wont keep a card updated since the 5.3 upgrade. (memory like a sieve plus it's on here somewhere but I couldn't find it)
With GW I only use cccam 2.0.0 and use the Humax only to allow emm's to update card. I also changed to GW863 as it worked better for me with the Humax but then I have read on other forums that others have stuck with GWM, added a humax to the mix and all is well also. YMMV.
