What cardreader are you using cobra?
Maybe it's a compatibility issue with your cardreader or a missing driver?

you need a core2 duo chipset.

it's fussy about the chipset it will run on.

what do you mean ? com port works ok because it reads the card. Then windows comes up with error.. sids gwm worked fine. I tested on other computers and newcs worked fine. It must be something to do with the hardware, as Z80 said maybe. But i dont know, thats why im asking if anyone has had the same thing happen to them

    Had tha same issues.
Needs to be Core 2 Duo.
If your using older pc's try Newcs1.20.
    Works oneverything.

I've had tonnes of probs with different PC's running different apps. Work on some and not others. I'd be concentrating more on the 'HP' side of things first. Go to basics.

XP, Vista etc will load driver files suitable for the motherboard it is using. You have different motherboards. You'll be using different drivers. So there's a start.

Try running applications that require your com port. FM400, Cas3, Dial up Modem, STB firmware upload etc. Burn cards at different mhz. Try the GUP.

If you can do all of these things with the 'HP' then fair enough, start with the Newsc prog.

Before you try reading a cardreader with Newsc, use a different prog. Haven't tried, but I'd guess FM400 should be able to at least read it?

'Recently I had a problem trying to reload firmware on my DM500. Would read box OK. Erase, no worries, but trying to load firmware (Image) on. Your kidding me. I persisted, gave up. Tried another PC I have with EXACTLY the same version XP etc (BUT DIFFERENT MOTHERBOARDS) and presto. Immediate success.

Haven't had the need since to reload. I will however try tweaking the baud rates of my com port next time. Never thought of that at the time.'

So as frustrating it becomes, hang in there and think clearly. Proove things first and one step at a time. Maybe at the end of the day it will never work on the HP. But keep things basic and dont overlook the obvious clashes you could have.

    good luck

I suspect they compiled newcs with a generic core 2 duo chipset rs232 driver or some such.

It is newcs that has the "bug".

But...without access to the newcs source code you will need to find hardware that matches the newcs software.

I suggest to perservere with newcs 1.65. and a core 2 duo main board.

It shits all over previous versions, it is better than cccam server.

It has cache working, all other versions do not.. End of story.
