@fandtm666 - have you seen a need for a box to be dezedded for this to work with a 5410z? I know someone that had a couple of boxes and no issues.

no the unit will work with a z model no problems , the units only need dezeding if they are running zic 1.03 if you want pictures with the revised white card is all.

from the description it seems that there is no communication from the humax through the bf unit to gwm .

usually what you will see when you start gw it shows connected then if you do a soft restart on the hummy with the season inserted you should see movement in the ecm and latency of gwm

Sooo,.... the dezedding is only from the perspective of piccys then ?

In so far as getting a season hooked up to a BF unit, is that independant of what firmware is on there ?

Or, if we're talking revised Whiteys,.. if the unit is able to display piccys and keep itself updated while its in the 5410Z, (without season and BF in the mix), then firmware is ok.

Is that about right ?

ok I just put the card reader on the usb/serial and it's working and serving pics on the dream, just for the record.

I created a new entry for the rs232 connection. Status says running and CAMKey/IP Addr says no camkey.

STB Status is below. I prob got the 103 in my head from the system id.

H/W OAK II-L 2.0
AZIR 1.05.03
Device Driver Version 1.05.03
S/W Last Update 25 MAR 2002
Loader Version 5.15.12.16003
System ID 0103.0600

fandtm666, It's not a network issue. Both devices are on the same subnet. I have no issues browsing to the bf430. I configured it from scratch by doing a factory reset via hyperterminal and then setting up the ip address (with a laptop on the factory default subnet) and changing the defaults to my local subnet. I can still browse/ping to the BF.
The issue appears to be from the STB to the BF or from the STB to the comm port on the server. (I just tried the RS232 connection since arriving home) The season is the same cct as what you use with the max232 and buffer chips. The red light comes on the season and that's it.

It shouldn't be rocket science!

Does GWM handle BF's as well as GW?

Hi Leroy - I will be doing the same as you shortly once my season arrives.

I do not need the Bf unit as my server and the humax 5410z are only metres apart. My Hummy is not Dezeded, so I will find out shortly if it is a problem for me as well.

Question -
I also have an Opentel ... I assume if I have a problem with the hummy I could also try putting the season in that and see if that works..

Use GW 863b.

it has better startup code.

GWM is an unfinished project....

I bet it will fire up straight away....

Cut over to GW863b. It says in the info bar at the top (should be Stock again) Multi Client server. Does this mean anything or is there 'another version'?

Anyways the dreams connected fine but still having issues with either the BF or via RS232.

With it connected via RS232 the logs are as follows

Card log
17 Jun 2008 21:20:03 : Humax 5410z : Got Comm Event
17 Jun 2008 21:20:03 : Humax 5410z : RX Byte

I got my mini season today- I have connected this and it looks like I am not getting very far... might be a similiar problem as Leroy's.
I am not using the BF unit ....connecting via direct serial cable.

I am going to go back to basics and check simple things like voltages, outgoing, incoming signalling etc -

Stuck a break out box in the middle of the cable and it seemed I needed to "jiggle" the DB9 connector to get some leds to show?

BTW I looks like I have exactly the same version hummy.
I have an Opentel I could play with as well if need be.

Can anyone recommend the appropriate steps to sort out this problem?

Any info would be really helpful.....

Hi leroy

Are you connecting the humax via serial cable or via a season interface?. The season method will definately work with gw and humax.

I have tried both methods. I should have someone to assist me tonight so hopefully we'll have it sorted.

I hope you have some success because I have the exact same setup and it would not work for me. The updated V5.3 card would not update in the humax with the bf unit hooked up even though GW was NOT running. Disconnected bf and got pics straight away.

Maybe there is a glitch with this particular firmware..

Cheers

#@$K $%#@T &%^S #@$K $%#@T &%^S oh and did I say #@$K!

It took all of 3 minutes and 46 seconds to get the Humax up and running with GW 863 through the RS232 port on a new workstation that I built up.
Why it didn't work on the other machine? Hmmm I don't know and probably don't really care as I was migrating to this machine anyway.
The other machine is a laptop with a real comm port but still doesn't explain why the BF didn't work.
Now I will have a quick play with the BF430.

I'm now happy as .......Leroy
