    Yeah welcome back GW1.

Your quality of posts is refreshing to read, as is the unfaltering technical content.

Hope you had a good holiday.

At the moment I am currently running a Greywolf Midnight 0.071b Server, using an ADB8776 with a season hard wired in to keep it updated. All other clients have EMM's turned off.
I have also done the same thing using a Humax decoder, as a matter of fact, any decoder that will keep a Gamma card updated, and will work with a season interface, should work just fine.

Sorry to be slow on the uptake Davo, but WTF is an ADB8776, and how does this wiring job of yours look? I take it that GWM no longer works with a card reader plugged into the PC's com port.

ADB8776 is a model of set top used by Austar.

GW863 was primarily written to support a BF430 as the main connectivity, with Dreamboxes as slave non-updating clients only.
A minimum of one BF430 and say...Humax is mandatory with v863.
That's also why a whitey stays updated, it has a set top with an authorised cam connected in this manner.

If you choose to use GWM then that is a version written to update a card without either a BF430 or humax etc.
But it is not as complete as V863 in the error recovery etc.
Also if you choose to not use a BF430 then you will have identical issues to say...cccam and newcs...no Humax etc keeping card updated.

If you choose to run GWM and utilize a BF430 connected Humax...then all is good.

If you know what you are doing technically like Dave001 and have access to a variety of logs etc etc then you can do many other things.

Greywolf is for hobbyists and has been deliberately limited in the number of clients that can connect. Simply to not make it a mass piracy tool.

GW863b is still by far the best CS program ever written.

Most people experience problems cause they try to do it as cheap as possible...without a RS232/TCPip converter.

Buy one and learn all about routing, rs232 etc etc... remote com ports are a powerful tool for other aspects of IT.

Sattronics is the only place in the world to buy a BF430 with firmware to make it function correctly.

My 2 DM500s connect not a prob but this BF unit is still no go.
I bought 2, 1 as a back up. How do i tell if the version of firmware inside this bf is the version i need. I did get them from sattronics.

If you keep going with this convincing argument I might just have to pull out my dusty hummy and add a BF430. I purchased mine as an "All-Cams" version - do I need to update the firmware ?

flash it with the original firmware and all will be good, and considering yours is already flashed to all cam there would be no need for a de-zed operation

you can get the original from humax-zone.net

easy....just connect with a web browser and it will stare you in the face.

They do not come setup for card sharing, they are an industrial router.

(You probably need realcom mode enabled)

Also...make sure the switch on the side is set to rs232...

    Default frustrated

I'm gettig pretty frustrated with my GW and or GWM. Runs perfectly for a day or so then the program crashes. It either shuts the GW program completely or just stops running.

Yes I have a BF430 on a hummer and yes it is updating. All is good there.

Tried with XP SP1 and SP2 and SP3 and all the same. I have a friend who is also experincng the same problem.

I read in this thread that GW is the best CS software ever but I just cant keep it running.

Can someone tell me what is the best Operating system to run it on? I read in this thread Windows Server 2003 with 5 mill clients. Is this the way to go?

    cheers for the input guys

i just checked the uptime on one and it was at 17day 3hrs but it is running windows server as it has been mentioned many times before .

    to run the cs
1: os should be a server setup
2: people run it on systems that is also doing torrents and god knows and wonder why it crash's

so to simplify it the system i checked is an old laptop

    p3 900mhz running at 450Mhz
    512 meg pc133 ram
    win 2k3 server
usb2 external drive connected for the dream box mounts
total of 7 clients of various breed

as you can see its a very cheap setup but it dont crash

I have been running with GW863 on XP with no SP in a VM and it's been up since the 9th Aug. so in its 5th week. I'm just trying to see how long it will go for before a reboot. Nice and stable, pixel free pics, what more can one ask for!
