| Premium Member | Hello All I have GW863, Mini Season and Hummy working setup and have found a very interesting problem I would like to share in this forum and hopefully get some feedback as well. I am not using a BF unit - Just a serial connection between the mini season and Grey Wolf server. What I have found is that if I have the hummy set to any Vertical Sat Channel the setup does not miss a beat. If I have the hummy set to a horizontal Sat channel I lose the connection between the Hummy and Grey Wolf within an hour. I have checked the mini season 5V rail when on vertical and also when on horizontal (when connection drops out) and it is rock steady at 4.96V in both cases. The Sat signal strength is excellent for both Horzontal and Vertical (89% +), in fact the horizontal is stronger than the vertical Has anyone had any experiences with this and or have any suggestions as to what this problem may be. |

| Premium Member | OK - Looks like this problem is unique and no one has noticed anything like this before. I will hack away at my own pace then with the current plan and theories I have to get to the bottom of this sooner or later. Love to hear from anyone who might have some ideas where the problem is and how to fix it. |

| Premium Member | Hi z80, Thanks, Yep I am not using a BF Unit and like what I said if I have the Hummy on Vertical Sat Channels it is rock solid. I have no problem getting a BF unit but I unless I understand why this would make a difference I see no point in getting one. |

| Premium Member | OK, after the 5th PM asking what the secret is, I've decided to spill the beans. "YOU DON'T NEED A BF UNIT" At the moment I am currently running a Greywolf Midnight 0.071b Server, using an ADB8776 with a season hard wired in to keep it updated. All other clients have EMM's turned off. I have also done the same thing using a Humax decoder, as a matter of fact, any decoder that will keep a Gamma card updated, and will work with a season interface, should work just fine. Dave |

Fand it may have been very well design using a bf but also Grey Wolf is an unfinished project and i don't think we will see new rls too soon. GW still works o.k with just rs232 serial connection. Dave - yes my mistake in quoting wrong post - but at the same time too don't get your knickers in knot over an error i made ![]() Chieflets

the original greywolf was finished in doing what it was designed for ( bf430+humax+season) and when the three are used as they were intended work flawlesly. The later gwm version is an un-finished and never to be finished project that took a different tangent with the arrival of dreams

Just to finish off here and not waste bandwidth - you can use it either way with a BF unit & without a BF unit. and both will work just fine. Dave01 has witness this him self so have I. - Even z80 has it runnig without one when his been preching BF units ![]() Chieflets
