    Default TomTom problem

OK...I gotta say I have never owned one of these things and know nothing about them.

My daughter gave the missus one before she left the country. Couldn't switch it on. Just had a green light, but thats all. Using a wire I reset it.

Now all I get is an orange screen with a picture of the unit connected to a cord...when connected via USB to the PC..

I assume I need to load some software into the thing...does anyone know where I can download this from? My daughter didn't give the missus anything but the unit itself, not even an sd card.

    Cheers

I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant pluckers son. I'm only plucking pheasants till the pheasant plucker comes.

It was on all night, but doesn't seem to want to charge....

I dunno...I'll try a software load first and see how it behaves.

Plug the usb cable ito the tomtom and pc, then turn on the tomtom. It will ask you if you want to connect to the pc select NO and see if you get a map screen displayed.

If you see a picture saying insert memory card then the software is most likely corrupt on the SD card or internal memmory.

If it boots ok to the map, remove the usb cable and reinsert it. This time choose yes to connect to the pc then use the tomtom software "tomtom home" to perform an update.

If you haven't got Tomtom Home you can download it from here
