TomTom Slow Transfer Speeds
If your having problems with transfer speeds from tomtom to pc your Bootloader could be the problem, As I found out when I updated my bootloader to the newest one,
I strongly advise not to change bootloaders if you don't have too !!
I have a TomTom One XL and my bootloader is 5.5136 I just transferred a copy of my tomtom to PC in around 4min (172MB)
This is the recommend bootloaders
One/ One XL / XL = 5.5128 or 5.5136
Go x00, x10, x20, x30 = 5.5229 or 5.5242
WARNING: USING THE INCORRECT BOOTLOADER CAN BRICK YOUR TOMTOM !!

Hi DND. I'm running my TomTom ONE with bootloader version 5.5244
Is this not recommended? I've been using this bootloader for a while now and it seems to be working just fine. But would a downgrade (if it is even possible) to version 5.5136 improve it at all?
TomTom GO 730, Navcore 9.051c, 64Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5250
TomTom ONE v1, Navcore 9.170SE, 32Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5244
I am running ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8562 (the se version I got from here) on a TT v3 (pretty sure)
Inside the bootloader version.... is Bootloaderversion=5.5229
BUT, inside ttgo is BootLoaderVersion=55136
I have noticed that while driving around on a route, is very slow to notice that I didn't go the way it says to go, took awhile to correct itself... BUT... on subject of transfer speeds... 171 is taking bout an hr and a half, from pc to mem tt and vice versa.
Any ideas how to correct it? So bootloaderversion and ttgo say the same version? preferably 5.5136
TomTom GO 730, Navcore 9.051c, 64Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5250
TomTom ONE v1, Navcore 9.170SE, 32Mb RAM, Australia 900.4602, Bootloader: 5.5244
How to Down-Grade your TomTom Bootloader (One/XL/GOxxx)
- 1. First delete the "system" file on your tomtom
- 2. Then copy the bootloader 0.0001 "system" file to your tomtom
- 3. Start the tomtom up and it should have a message come up (please wait) and it will load the 0.0001 Bootloader on your tomtom.
- 4. Now connected the TomTom to your PC again and Delete the "system" file on it,
- 5. Copy the BootLoader 5.5128 "system" file to your tomtom
- 6. Unplug your USB cable and you'll get the same (please wait) message and when the tomtom starts it will have the bootloader 5.5128
While I was making this post I redone my tomtom with bootloader 5.5128 to test if its any faster then the 5.5136 version,
I copied the Aus maps folder (125MB) off the tomtom and it took 3mins and then copyed it back on to the tomtom and it was 3mins,
So I think the 5.5128 version is better so start with that and see how you go.
If you want to upgrade it later you can just copy the 5.5136 system file to your tomtom overwriting the one on there.
You can always upgrade by just overwriting the system file with the newer version and it will upgrade your tomtom but you can't downgrade unless you use the 0.0001 version first.
But Remember using the wrong Bootloader can Kill your TomTom
0.0001, 5.5128 and 5.5136
TomTom's with Bootloader 1.xxxx = DON'T UPGRADE THE BOOTLOADER
Okies, understand that... but kinda scary....But Remember using the wrong Bootloader can Kill your TomTom
DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v3)
DeviceSerialNumber= **********
DeviceUniqueID= *************
RamDiskVersion=20091014
BootLoaderVersion=55136 (INSIDE bootloaderversion.txt is BootloaderTarget=s3c24xx Bootloaderversion=5.5229)
LinuxVersion=331278
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8562
ApplicationVersion=438269
My version I am not sure of.... ttgo says One (V3) tt home at bottom right says "TomTom New Edition" Are new edition and v3 the same?
First delete the "system" file on your tomtom
Yup, I got that ok... but the filename of bootloaderversion.txt do I leave that there or....
just has me a bit freaked that that says one version and the ttgo says another LOL. If it wasn't for that txt file, I could follow easily![]()
"ttgo" you can delete that. the tomtom will make a new one when you do a reboot of the tomtom
"bootloaderversion.txt" My one was showing the wrong version too. So I made a backup of it and deleted it off the tomtom and it hasn't made any diffrence to it running. So your guess is as go as mine as to what its for lol

I just went and picked up a birdcage and told him I used tomtom to get there, and he said he had one but hadn't updated cos of the price, so am emailing him bout this forum and giving him links
Kay then, will give it a ago and thanks a bunch![]()
yeah the price of the maps is a bit over the top, I have an old tomtom and if I had to pay $150 for a new maps, I'd just go to the good guys and buy a new tomtom unit for $148 lol
Yeah, thats a very good point LOL. Am so glad I stumped upon this site when I lost everything on second hand tomtom mem card and had to start from scratch LOL![]()
Am doing it as you said, but I think it is slow... not AS slow, but still slow, I haven't seen 1 hr 42 mins yet, has never been higher then 30 mins LOL.
Reason of slowness could be...
1: Not meant to be using a 4gig SD card (and it isn't a tomtom one... the original sd card that was in it, was a toomtom, but only 115 mb in size LOL.
2. Everytime I connect, I get a "drive may have corrupted files" scan and fix/ continue without scanning etc LOL. I choose the continue without scanning now.... cos I did do the scan once, and then I done a format into Fat32 and well, an hr later it was finished, then even longer to transfer the backup onto it LOL
3. If it is number 2, maybe a new sd card (size 2gb) is the fix???
Am doing another format now, and then will paste everything back LOL. After it, going to bed LOL
Oh, you know how I deleted the system folder.... do I need to 'patch' again. I am using the TomTom One XL Navcore 8.562 SE with the 850.2884 maps (latest speed cameras)
I'm running 55136 which appeareed after I deleted everything and installed navcore 8.562_SE.
TomTom to PC transfer is normal...it's PC to tomtom that's very slow.
Hi,
I followed DND's advice...went back to 0.0001, then to 5.5128, then back to 5.5136.
Results for PC to tomtom transfer:
- 5.5128 = 1 pause for abut 30 secs (no red X) near end of 50mb transfer.
- 5.5136 = 1 pause for about 30 secs near end of only 5mb file
So 5.5128 clearly much faster for PC to tomtom transfer on my tomtom XL 30 series.
This site had some information about different bootloaders.
That site just confusing me LOL
(One/XL) <=-- does THAT One... also include v1/v2/v3/xl? LOLBootloader 5.5136 (One/XL) official and sugegsted
Bootloader 5.5128 (One/XL) suggested
Thanks Alex for file and suggestion.
--------- Bootloader suggested
TomTom One V1/V2/V3/XL = 5.5242
ANd, is that suggested for the device OR... the navicore?Navore for me at the moment is that TomTom One XL Navcore 8.562 SE (my actual device is a tt one v3 (so ttgo tells me anyways LOL... tt home tells me 'tom tom new edition' in bottom right LOL))
you can find your device here by entering the first 2 characters of your serial number
w0lfm4n (27-09-10)
if serial number is on the barcode and starts with c.no: E2... says mine is a tt 2nd edition
if serial number is next to the tick, then it is a DAIHATSU / ECLIPSE / TOYOTA.
I dare say, mines a tt one v2 from one of those cars? LMAO
new definition of a sillycar with a toymotor for me.... no wait, thats a celica... not a hilux.
Man im bored, I still dunno why I get up so early for work anymore LOL
