    Default Tom Tom One XL Upgrade

    Hi
    Im a bit of a newbie at this TomTom stuff so please, treat me gently!!!
    I've an old TomTom One XL details are
    Model 4S00.006 with SD card
    App 6.593 (7938/070514) OS:1732
    29MB RAM (free:2.8MB)
    GPS v1.21, Boot 5.29



    The maps are now miles out of date and I want to upgrade TomTom to a later version so I can use current maps.

    I have read that if I install TomTom on the SD card, this will be loaded in place of the TomTom resident in memory

    I've got a version of navcore_SE_8.204.9718 (Is there a later one??) and copied it to the SD card but when I load the SD card in the device it simply tells me to take the SD card out again.

    So can someone please give me/point me to a description of how I install a later version of TomTom onto my SD card.

    Start here for a good NavCore for your TomTOm

    then grab the latest maps here


    Then have a read of this

    The simplest way is to follow section (B) from the latest, updated easy-to-follow tutorial here:



    The latest official navcore for the old ONE XL is 8.010. If you have the same model and navcore, then download the 870.3391 map.

    Alternatively, if you prefer to use the 8.562 SE navcore with the 870.3406 map, then download the latest link in the thread by DND (mentioned in the previous post), copy the contents of the navcore into your TomTom device, then follow the remaining steps in the above tutorial.

    That was great. Thanks. Just some comments for anyone trying to do the same thing

    One XL SD 8.562 SE link is broken. Try
    Copy the files and directories into the root of your SD card
    Run eazyactivator 1.7 (in the zip) to activate TomTom

    Map Australia 870 3406 produces a message Australia_335 not available with this device. Australia 845 2661 works OK but is a little old

    Now up and running . Test tomorrow

    You are not using the latest version of FastActivate, which is why you are getting this error. The new map will only work with the latest version 1.8.7.0. Download it from the FastActivate thread here:



    Again, look at the latest posts for the latest FastActivate version 1.8.7.0.

    I am new to this so please don't mind my very basic question: how do I find what navcore version I have?

    My One XL (with SD) details:

    App 8.011 (9374/040301) OS:1000
    128MB RAM (free:128.0MB)
    GPS v1.21, Boot 1.0012
    Map: Australia v675.1431

    Can I apply the navcore mentioned above and the latest map to my device?

    Your navcore is version 8.011

    Yes you can put the 8.562 SE navcore on and new maps.

    Do you know where can I get good US map from? Any other links?

    Hi DND,

    That North America map works well with Navcore 8.562 SE.

    The only problem was that I cannot put both Aus and NA maps in full in a 2GB card. I removed "cspeech_CAN.dat" (assuming it is for Canada) from NA folder to get it copied to the card. FastActivate did its magic and all is good now
