My device is not really new. It's HD2 with Android 2.37 running.
I can see few people around the world face the same problem as me. It is disappointing but it's a good start - TomTom finally realized there is a big market out there they volunteered to ignore.
So will be waiting for either new phone (when decide to buy one) or new apk version (by the end of this year) hoping to have more compatible set. Tried to look in the file for any pointers to the download side or something to shut up the downloader and install maps manually but couldn't see anything. It looks like it's all compiled.

Do not connect to the TT servers as this will cause a block.
TT is now actively blocking cracked apps, so don'tuse any features that could connect to their servers!

The phone is connected to network via wifi. The TTHome is installed on my desktop only so it shouldn't interfere at all. Also it fails to connect via 3G connection. It must be something TomTom uses to establish the connection which doesn't like either hardware or software running on the phone itself.

P.S. The problem happens at the very beginning, trying to download maps in order to run the app for the first time. So the phone didn't have any chance yet to use any of the TomTom servers except map storage.

Exactly, TT is blocking the app.
At this stage you can not download a map or anything else from TT with a cracked appand rumors are starting that TT blocks the app completely.
On top of it you never know what data your phone/pad is sending to TT.

Maybe it is the case now, when I first discovered the problem other people still could happily download maps, even few days after I tried. Then I found out other users with legal copy running custom roms are having the same problem.
I am happy to buy the application, providing it will work on my device. What is it with TomTom anyway? Others offer a trial before buy options and TomTom doesn't do it for some reasons.
Luckily I have iGo running perfectly Ok so no TT for me.

I simply guess they messed up again.
Same protection scheme for the maps, so they do a checksum test of the actual app and block it this way.
Some people say that legal versions are not really an issue as a simple mail to the TT support re-enables all.
Could also be that all versions where the crack is based on are blocked by default, only time will tell.

It would be nice if someone could possibly upload the sdcard map directory. People are saying that doing manual map still works.
