what wce version are you using?
Hi I have tomtom navigator up and running with maps transferred from my iphone and it works great. Connected to it is a gps receiver which is rated at 9600 baud and it gets signal fine and the screen is steady when sitting still, however as soon as I move the pointer jumps all over the place! This is nothing to do with the gps receiver because igo primo works perfectly!
i tried changing the baud rate but there is no difference can anyone help??

You already answered your question : IGO works good.
Reason behind is that TT is more than just outdated - it is about 10 years old and even when working it only has the most basic features.
IMHO TT for CE/WM is only for collectors or people that don't need reliable navigation anyway.
Tomtom GO730 ,Navcore 9.004 ,Bootloader 5.5256 ,Map :Australia 845.2661ttmaps and Tomplayer on 16GB SDHC class6Password for all my files: downunder
Did a quick Google-search (why didn't do this by yourself?) for "TT7 arrow jumps". Probably found a solution for this issue . HTH
EDIT:
GPS Receiver (hardware):
Baud Rate is fixed in factory and cannot be changed in after. (Usually set at 9600).
GPS Map (software):
Some accept both Baud Rate 4800 and 9600 but some old GPS Map only accept one Baud Rate version.
GPS Map (software) which work with Baud Rate 9600:
MS AutoRoute (2010 above), Streets & Trips (2010 above), Memory Map, Google Earth Map, Google Map w/ Logger, MapKing, TomTom, Navman, Magellan, Viking, iMap ...
RESUME: If your GPS Map doesn't accept Baud Rate 9600 then you must install a software GPS serial COM (AKA port splitter) and have the GPS Map listen on this software serial COM.
