rhef.com.au/rhcguide, commences transmission Monday 21st of May at 1.30pm AEST.
Is this the same as the one now on Aurora or an entirely different service?
Now I can find out why when the wind blows free the leaves and grass go brown.........
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
Is the new channel available to everyone in all locations? Even ABC/SBS only activations?
As far as locations, judging by their website its australia wide (separate TV guides for east/west).
Anyone with an ABC/SBS only auth able to confirm that its available/not available. Would be interesting to know, especially if a few other "specialty" channels were added in future.

This is great news. I guess Westlink will no longer be needed once Aurora goes?
Once Aurora goes, there wont be any option, will there?
Same with NITV becoming available in the SBS lineup at a future date, I am curious to see if that goes to Terrestial SBS (general covereage, not re broadcast sites) or will it only be available on VAST ?
Is NITV part of the Foxtel lineup the same as Austar?

Thats great, another channel for variarty which puts more pressure on the Commercial Broadcasters to lift their game (we hope)
The 'new' Rural Health Channel isnt a 24/7 channel so I wonder if any of the 'Community' groups could ever take 'space' on it like they did a few years ago, remember that show called the 'Couch' ?

No local news channels for those of us with only ABC/SBS. Any channel from 401 to 420 brings the message "E16-4 No permission to view this channel".
The VAST box still gets some use for watching ABC / SBS programs time shifted. Quite often I will want to watch something on the ABC at 8.30pm, but miss the start. It is so easy just to wait until 9.00pm and catch the NT feed. It's also good in summer when I can watch the feeds from the southern States early.
The full details re NITV will not be announced until July 1. The ACMA / Federal Government recommended that 80% of the NITV terrestrial sites change to DTH VAST.
There has not yet been any confirmation that I have seen that confirms NITV will be in the SBS mux, only that it will be carried on VAST and administered by SBS. If anyone has any confirmation that NITV is to be in the SBS mux then that would be very good to have confirmed.
"the one with the sugar coating is the one that would otherwise taste worst".
I have now found the official press release that confirms that NITV will be part of the SBS mux. Find it here

Do the Maths, 4 hours per day X 5 = 20 plus 2 for sunday = 22 hours per week.
Seeing there are 24 hours in a day X 7 = 168 so minus the 22 hours used leaves 146 hours of Station Identification.................
I would love to know what it costs to transmit for 24 hours as I doubt the cost is any different between a station ID and a program.
