Keep in mind on the iinet naked plans, uploads count towards your quota. Personally I didn't see much difference since I use p2p a bit, so I stayed on their normal plans.

Also as a cheaper alternative to iinet - see if TPG has adsl2+ on your exchange. They have much better plans and do voip too. I am thinking of switching, but dunno if I can put up with the hassle of getting a new email addy.

For those on Iinet naked plans, can you please give me an idea of data useage. I know the DL allowance is generous but not sure how much is used for uploads.

It is so insignificant that I didn't even bother consider it. But for those who are kB cautious I can answer the question. Your usage will depend on the codec selected during VOIP negotiation session. To have an estimation the best is to calculate yourself using the codec data usage. You can check the data .

uploads will only be an issue if you do any p2p stuff, in which case you should assume an upload download ratio of 1:1, in effect halving your perceived 'download quota'

Been with iiNet for almost 2 years now with no regrets. Was running a Billion 7401vp no issues and decided to upgrade to 7404vgpx as I needed a second line. I had some issues with the 7404vgpx with calls constantly dropping out amongst other strange things, this was quickly fixed by changing the registrar port from 5060 to 5070 and has been running smoothly.

Would it be possible to run 2 lines to a single handset using a 2 into adapter ? Have my ATA setup but want to keep access to landline for now preferably without having to use a seperate handset, i would have 1 cord from ata to handset along with the pstn already there in use ? Other option is to forward all calls to voip number but unsure of the cost of this.

Sure it's possible providing your ATA(VOIP) device has both ports available. There are few ATAs available which can do what your were after with Minitar being one of them .
