mines working fine as always
never missed a beat
if i could only get my hands on some more
sick of the sponge bob logo on the front though
i wonder if the gamma team can fix that for me
so is the answer in the paid section of this forum or is it just all talk at this stage? Any solutions aside from a quick sale of a scraper would be appreciated!
looks like another $30.00 update for NEARLY everyone
Thought this was to a helpful forum, yes i dont contibute as i know stuff all about these things, so dont abuse me. I have no idea about ird1 and ird2 anyone care to explain, I have a Humax. I see the oics come in for about 10 secs when box switched on and off and then freezes.
I have no idea whats going on, appears some are working or that a fee will be charged to recode or whatever.
Can anyone simply explain whats happening and how to fix???????????????
Hi all...
just wanted to put in my two cents worth if ok...
Its seems alot of us don't know what ird1 and ird2 is... am I right in asuming ird1 was the original card setup and ird2 is the current???
If so this would mean an update is eminent??
So its back to the drawing board and another $30.00??
Is it worth having both Ird1 and Ird2 cards just in case???
When you say change the cam, I dont understand what that means...
I have a hummy and am fairly knowledgable in computers and electronics but am yet to understand the insides of these decoders.. any help in these areas would be great.......coz if we can all help each other we ensure ass-star and fuxtel wont screw people with a service that has more ads than FreeToAir...
Also noticing that while am writing this reply my hummy seems to be less and less time between outages....anyone else noticing this????
Regards peevee
Ok from what i have gathered by doing a fair bit of reading..
the Cams are the "Card Readers"
Ird1 and Ird2 are Irdeto 1 and Irdeto2 which from what i gather are Types or Formats that card readers can use.
The suggestion is to pull the card out of ur Irdeto 2 slot when the picture comes up and stick it into an Irdeto 1 slot (assuming you have a second CAM or box or something) and then that is supposed to fix it....
a lot of the boxes do Irdeto 1 and Irdeto 2 at the same time (within the same Cam) which means..... NO IDEA..
hope that clears it up a bit. as i said this is just what i have gathered today by doing a bit of reading, i could be way off the mark.
Mate,
I appreciate that you are a beginner in the satellite hobby area, but you really need to do a bit of reading before you bog the forum down with fundamental questions.
I suggest you spend some time googling terms like 'irdeto' and 'conditional access'.
You will then have an idea of what people are talking about.
Happy Googling,
jsmith
P.S. Jimboss, this post was for the previous guy, you beat me to it...

its not the card its irdeto fix up may be ????
i dont no ??
Firstly I don't think I bogged anything down it was just a quick couple of questions and if you don't ask you dont know....
isnt that what forums are for?? gaining knowledge asking questions??....
if not its ok.... i will just sit in the corner and read....
thanks guys, yes I could google, however the results would still not put things in simple english. I appreciate your comments and are taken on board. However, without hopefully sounding rude, I have been reading all these posts and view this site quite often, although not logged in, quite often persons place comments about things but do not explain any further. A lot of people would have no idea what is being written about, hence my post to try and clarify whats being said in a hope for myself and others.
So I put forward if someone has something to say dont talk in tech terms, or if you do also explain please.
Sorry this was mainly for JSmith

While I was typing this reply, a number of posts have made similar points, but have posted this anyway, as it might help a few noobs
Irdeto 1 was the original encryption system that the three main Australian satellite TV providers used at the inception of Pay TV here. Irdeto 1 was reverse-engineered fairly early on and anyone with a bit of nouse could source the materials and sofware to program their own after-market wafer card. You would know them as Gold, Silver, Emerald, Fun etc. In 2004 Austar and Foxtel both changed their encryption systems to coincide with the deployment of the OPtus C1 satellite. Foxtel now uses the N*D*S system and Austar uses a new version of Irdeto called Irdeto2. Irdeto2 has been cracked, but the algorithm is only known to a few persons who program wafer cards for a fee that (could) decrypt all the Austar services. These are the so-called 'sellers' white cards.
It would appear so.
The question is ambiguous. If you had both working ID1 and ID2 cards, you probably wouldn't be here.
The CAM (Conditional Access Module) is the thing the card plugs into, that does the decrypting. Some receivers have it built-in, some receivers have slots (Common Iterface) that CAM 'modules' plug into. This enables many different CAMs with many different features to be used.
I hope that has answered a few of your questions.
You are right forums are for knowledge but we have a newbie section for those kind of questions. you may find posting in there or better yet as has been suggested do some reading and show some initiative as the answers to your questions are already posted somewhere.
good luck.
One Fella..... you have explained it perfectly and I understand....Thank you..
one last thing before I go....for e.g I have a hummy that has one slot or cam as you would say ..so when people here say as the picture comes up remove the card and place it in the other ird slot... this confuses me cos as far as i know I have one slot only unless there is one internally...
Sorry again to ask question....
But I must again thank you for knowledge sharing....
