playing media on x360 requires XBOX live to play ?

I ask this question cause my x360 getting error status code : 51-C00DF236 media update needed ... I updated day 1 when I got x360 .. been playing fine ..watching movie on it yesterday ... I heard MS shut down XBOX live for few days to do upgrade or some crap ...anyone else having same prob ?

Thinking about it, I might try downloading the file with a different live account. See if that works.

Mine is a replacement/refurb from MS. I don't remember downloading the media support, I'm just assuming I must have done so to provoke this.

EDIT: that did the trick. A different account allowed me to re-download the file with new rights for my current console. I can now play vids offline.

heh only prob while xbox live offline I can't do trick to do media update with new account (xbox live account) ...
