Replace Liteon with Samsung ms28

Just wanting to know if anyone else has noticed this. I replaced a Liteon with a Samsung ms28 drive and it reads backups fine and an original test game that I have here being Full Auto, but it wont read an original GTA4 disk. I have found a few posts on xbox-scene from others who have come across the same issue but havnt seen anyone come up with a reason or an answer as to why this happens, have you got any ideas?

I brought some more original games in from home to test out today and none of them have a problem working, so it appears to be just GTA4 that has the problem. I tested Army of Two, Rainbox 6 Vegas 2 and Gears of War and they all work. So its got me stumped.

hmm i have not done any liteon to ms28 changes but have done plenty of ms28's and none of them have any issues with only 1 game, so hmm weird

also where you get the ms28 drives from ??

I should clarify a bit, its not that it wont read the disk, it comes up with the message "put this game in a xbox 360 console" the same message you would get if you tried a copy in a 360 that hasnt been modded yet.

I got the drives from Dave at modsupplier.

don't have a GTA4 to try, but I have not had a problem with my MS28s

M28's floating around off ebay .. are from refurbished x360s ... I went through 5 of them .. none were anygood ...

A bit off topic for the thread but, I have stock of brand new BD7909FS chip for the Samsung drive if anyone need them. I have repaired quite a number of units now thanks to these chips. The typical fault is the drive will not eject at all, you wont hear the eject motor start up and stop.

Have seen this happen once(on Ms28) but it would give that sympton on all originals & work on back-ups...ended up replacing the laser & all was good.
I use Dave's Ms28 & have been gr8 so far
