Question Converting DVD rip to format that XBMC compatible format

Say you had a DVD rip on your computer, so it's got two folders called "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS". And in the video folder is bunch of files that will play using Nero ShowTime. How would you convert this into a format that you could play it on the XBMC?

You could copy just the videots folder to the xbox and play the first .vob file, it should then play in order.

Or if you want to save space convert it with autogk to either xvid or divx.

Or turn the files into a iso and XBMC will play it straight away. But the easiest way is to point to the vob files as mentioned above.

Well I got somewhere. I tried some VOB files, and it plays them, but only for the length of the file (which makes sense), however, that's a pain, as you have to run 4 or more files to see the complete movie.
I then tried an IFO file, and that seemed to follow on, however, after first showing the production companys screen, then a preview for another movie, then the image cut out, my TV just said no signal. I've had similiair issue with playing some DVD discs in the Xbox, so I'm wondering if there is a seperate issue with my console.

would seem that converting to .ISO gives the most stable playback on the Xbox.

Open the Video_TS folder and run the VIDEO_TS.IFO file. that will play the dvd like an origional dvd played on a dvd player. With all menus etc

Can be played directly from a shared workgroup/network folder on another computer. No need to copy to xbox hdd.
