HDMI and Optical audio out?

Rather than buy the expensive Microsoft hdmi cable pack, was wondering if it was possible to still use my existing Microsoft HDTV cable only for the optical audio out and run that to my AV receiver. Then use a 3rd party HDMI cable for the video and connect that to the HDMI port on my tv?

No it wont fit ,you need to hack the a/v lead
