Xbox Error

Hey guys

my cousin has been getting an error each time he puts in a game saying "your xbox needs to be serviced"

its well out of the warranty so im looking for someone in victoria, south eastern suburbs to repair it please, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

aye mate...

there should be a number (error code) in the top right (or is it left :S) of the screen what is it? there is every possibility you may be able to sus it yourself...

the exact error is " your xbox requires service, please call the customer care number listed in your instruction manual"

theres no error number or anything

My guess would be a dead dvd drive or HDD. Do any disks work in the drive (music or dvd's)? Does it boot to the menu ok without a disk in? Is it modded?

is this an xbox 1?

is it chipped or modded at all?

it could be a problem with the dash files if it is. I can't remember which ones exactly but I once put v1.0 dash on my v1.1 box and I got the same message. change them back and all good.

However I got the same error from one without playing with any files.

it usually does have an error code -- on specific early models I believe it may not, but usually does...

anyway, it could be any number of the things mentioned by the other lads... if you can give us some more info perhaps we can help. or if you cant be arsed and just want it fixed (as per your initial request) the only person I can think of who may know someone in that area would be ozchips... I believe that back in the day he had a list of modders on his website from around Australia perhaps he still does, I dunno.

by the first post are you saying it loads dash without game loaded
if so looks like the dvd rom is stuffed
dose the front leds flash when this error occures
