have you tried doing a hard reset with the reset button
Hey guys, I've had a TomTom One XL for a little while now, (about 6 months) i've always keep it up to date from the web as well as all the QuickGPS Fixes so on and so forth.
I've had a great time with my GPS and its been working a treat.... up until now, Since i have two cars the GPS goes with me from my work van to my personal car for those times i don't know how to get to that bitchen party i am going to... Now the issue is;
The Unit will not turn on UNLESS there is power going to it (Car charger / USB on PC) First i thought the battery was fried, but you can turn it on and then pull the power out of the bottom and the unit still works.
Now the question i have for you folk, is does anyone else have this issue and if so does anyone know how to fix the darnd problem!?
Cheers for this

are you useing one of the hacked version 7 firmware if so try removing the sd card then pressing the power button also have a look at this link seems to be a common problem of late
not a hacked version, its whats come down from tomtom. Its the offical one.
Thanks for the link anyway, checking it out

that's correct Armers it was from the Tomtom site & I read on another site it may have something to do will the size of the SD card, I'm using a 2Gb card but when I reinstall the orignal 256Mb card all is well.
i never got a larger sd card working... but this issue is with the orignal card...
As for now it seems to be working, i'll see how it goes for now...
I did a resore from back in march 07 (first backup i did) and then updated from there and it seems to be working..... for now.

I've had similar problems with my TT One XL as well. After each update using TT HOME, the unit will refuse to turn on when I press the power button, after its been shut down. I have to remove the memory card and then reinsert it before I am able to turn the TT on.
I am using a generic 3rd party 80x 4gb SD memory card.
Doing a hard reset will fix the problem and it will now turn on when I press the power button, after its been shut down without having to remove the memory card.
