Default Tevion (Aldi) 4589 (PWM 3501) GPS

Back in 2008 I bought my first GPS which was a Tevion (Aldi) 4589 (PWM 3501) running Route 66 - Mobile 8 maps. Maps have never been updated and is currently running version Australia 2008 V3. I don't think these maps are available any longer.

While the old GPS is a bit glunky it does run well and the battery is still very strong. I still use it mainly as a GPS speedo in an old classic car I have.

I go offroad a lot and my much newer Garmins work well but I wouldn't mind having a backup GPS with me as I have had some fail in the past.

So ideally I would like to use the old Tevion as a backup if there was a way to get new maps loaded up. I do appreciate that what I ask may not be practicable.

Yes - it would be easy just to buy a cheap GPS and use it as a backup but I have this and it works.

Any ideas on what to put on it - and what would be the best way to do this. It does have full size SD card slot but I am not sure whether accessible maps could go onto this.

    Thanks

    Garry
