Default Wintal STB14HD - Does it output Dolby Digital?

Can someone confirm if this receiver outputs 5.1 or just 2ch stereo?

It appears to be 2 channel stereo.

    From the specs:

Audio output: Stereo / Joint stereo / Mono / Dual Mono

Nothing like expert product knowledge eh...lol.

No mention of Dolby 5.1 (or any surround format) only the 2 channel choices in the specs.

Don't have one myself, so can't confirm further.

thats a nice Multi-Media STU, looks like the backend does everything barring DLNA/Ethernet as its not webbased enabled.

Reminds me of the STRONG STU I have at the holiday house that basically does everything barring DLNA/WiFi/Ethernet which in reality does not matter that much as I don't have fixed wired internet down there
and don't need DLNA as I simply plug in my external HDD and then use remote control to access the content.

Might pick on up for the TV in the bedroom as its an ancient MPEG2 SD only STU that pretty much is useless.

Another small problem is that unless the program is made in Dolby, it aint gunna happen anyway.

I got caught out with thinking a 7 channel audio amp would use all the speakers even if it was only a Stereo input but not so, no 'coded input', no 7 speakers.......

While I didnt expect the Amp to magically create the sounds, I thought the other speakers would just work like having extra speakers on each channel.

Just picked one up and thought I should mention that it does output Dolby Digital on the HD channels.

I wondered if that was the case because if not, why have a co-axial audio plug on the back ?

Is that via HDMI, coax or both outputs?

Strange they don't quote DD in the specs, as it's a good selling point, especially for the price.

MTV, it may be purely a 'PASS THROUGH' like the IN/OUT antenna sockets and as it isnt 'processed' by the STB, they dont include it in the spec listing.

They have to have a license to use Dolby's name to cut costs many products don't specify it.

I have only checked with HDMI so far:

    Channel 90 HD
A bit hard to see, but in the top LH corner you have double D symbol

    Channel 91 SD
In this photo, audio comes up as MPEG
