Default Domestic Submersible Bore Pumps - Suggestions?

I have a 40meter bore in the backyard.
It used to have a bore pump in it, but i'm not sure what it was.

After a quick Google, i see it is quite a science in itself.
Grundfos and Franklin come up as good brand choices, but man, do they cost an arm and a leg.

    Anyone here have a bore?
Or can recommend a pump they havce been using and are happy with?
The bore water is pretty hard on parts, so i can appreciate you need a good unit.

    Thanks

Stick with the Grundfos models. They are expensive but the quality is good.
These thinks are a bugger to select. You really need to know the following
    to make a good selection
    Bore flow rate?
    Standing water level?
    Pumping water level?
    Pump setting level?
Friction calculations for total dynamic head
What protections and control system is required?
If you are not asked these questions the person selling the pump does
not know what they are doing and you will probably buy a pump that
is not suitable for your application
    Good luck

Grundfos have been around for years and are pretty solid and reliable. Bore water in the Territory was pretty good, read: very drinkable. Down here, I'm not so sure.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

    Go Grundfos.
When I had acreage with in-ground water tanks and a bore I got Grundfos and they are almost unbreakable although the bore pump did die after 10 years (left running after ran dry) but the house pump is still going 18 years later...just needed a new pressure tank that rusted.

I have an old WW2 Army Manual that covers pumping liquids and I was amazed to see just how hard a substance it is to move.
The Manual was written in plain simple terms and as an example of what wont work when it should, one section dealt with pumping of fluid over a hill and the pumps to be used were rated suitable to do it in one step.
However, it didnt work so they tried increasing the pumps and still it didnt work.
Because it had to be made work NOW, they went back to cutting the lift in half to a reservoir, then pumped from there over the hill without missing a beat.
I never knew temperature plays a part in pumping it and who ever thought the diameter and friction from the walls of the pipes can make or break if it flows or not?

This is another case of chatting up the neighbours who may have a Bore as well as sounding out any local companies who deal in such products.

Water aint Water either so local knowledge on whats in it will be a great help.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
