    It was a bit disappointing, nothing really jumps out at you at this years expo except the flood in the IP CCTV market which was expected and a few rumors laid to rest.

    Not bad, they flew in from Aisa, lost their luggage so no business cards, however they are looking for distributorships in different states. May be worth looking into considering the product is pretty good.

    Default Geovision ROCKS

    Yeah we been using this for 4 + yrs now, never a drama, so easy to setup, full of features.. and flexible, versatile and reliable, I don't understand why more companies aren't using them- the anti terrorism features are excellent, not to mention the flexibility and ease in setting up motion recording,
    I did 4 x 1480 card systems in the past 2 weeks, Loving 8.2 now,

    I weighed it up against Digital Si and came out $ 980 per system cheaper, Do I need to say more, 3 yr wty on cards..
    Geo H264 codec and higher resolution with deinterlace (removes the issue the comart cards had with fuzzy pics on motion around the subject!)
    Love the motion popup, when a person moves on camera that camera pops onto screen, so much to list

    Just looking at setting up the NVR's and well be yrs ahead of our opposition....
    8.2 even supports the older cards which is a bonus..
    I have a custom GUI with company logo and telephone numbers, even pops up with video lost - contact..Security 1300xxxxx when a camera goes offline.. very handy..

    Key features.
    Based on the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 hardware compression technologies, the new generation cards GV-2004 / GV-2008 are designed to meet high profile security demands. The GV-2004 / GV-2008 utilize MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 hardware compressions to free more CPU capacity from the intensive compression tasks. Compared with the flagship GV-Combo Card where videos are compressed with software compressions such as Geo MPEG-4, Geo MPEG-4 ASP, Geo H264 and Geo H264 V2, the GV-2004 / GV-2008 provide an alternative for hardware compression. GV-2004 / GV-2008 both support multiple video and audio input ports, TV output, real-time display, and D1 quality video resolution.

    VERSION 8.2 KEY FEATURES

    * Support for V4 Cards of GV-600, GV-650 and GV-800 (*)
    * New features to Main System:
    o Hybrid Solution integrating analog videos with digital videos from GeoVision IP video products and third-party IP cameras
    o Noise Tolerance for motion detection: By reducing motion trigger frequency and total file size, the De-Noise and Low Pass Filter function can help customers save costs and avoid false alarms.
    o Noise Detection to reduce file size (*)
    o Noise Filter to filter out video and audio noise (*)
    o Defogging live videos (option): An advanced video analytics feature used for enhancing viewing quality of videos or scene visibility taken under foggy, snowy or rainy conditions.
    o Video Stabilizer (option): An advanced video analytics feature that can help stabilize videos taken under very shaky conditions, usually resulted from cameras installed outdoors or inside vehicles.
    o PIP View (Picture-in-Picture): Provides a close-up monitoring view of a particular selected area on the video image, which enables security personnel to gain better understanding of any suspicious events occurred at a particular location. The view is especially beneficial when the camera resolution is megapixel.
    o PAP View (Picture-and-Picture): Provides a close-up monitoring function similar to PIP except that it can creates a split video effect by having a close-up monitoring of multiple selected areas on the video image. It can help raise monitoring efficiency when multiple areas at a specific location are considered to be critical or of high risk.
    o Panorama View (option): An advanced video analytics feature that can splice multiple camera images to provide a continuous scene for live monitoring. It allows user to gain better understanding of camera orientation and the relationship among cameras, and hence is well suited for wide area surveillance in locations such as airport, seaport, military compound, borders control stations, etc. Up to 4 sets of panorama views can be created.
    o Report Generator
    o New codec Geo H264 V2: Provides smaller compressed file size and higher frame rate than Geo H264, and hence is able to improve video transmission efficiency and reduces storage costs further. (*)
    o Multithreading encoding: Designed to speed up video encoding, thus achieving maximum CPU efficiency and frame rate. The performance speed up from multithreading encoding is most obvious when the multi-core CPU is in use. (*)
    o Support for cardholder data from GV-Video Server
    o Support for new screen resolutions: 1280 x 800, 1440 x 900 and 1920 x 1080
    o Support for new domes: Pelco Spectra Mini Dome (SD4-WO), Pishion 22X, VCC5i, Lilin (PIH-7625), Messoa (D-700 series) for PTZ tracking and VIDO (G65) for PTZ tracking (*)
    * New features to ViewLog:
    o Support for new screen resolutions: 1280 x 800, 1440 x 900 and 1920 x 1080.
    o Support for new video-enhanced effects: Defog and Stabilizer
    o PIP and PAP Views
    o Panorama View
    o Splitting files for backup onto multiple discs
    o Extracting frames from a video clip during playback
    * New features to WebCam:
    o New web GUI: The remote management WebCam comes with a newly designed and easy-to-use user interface with high scalability and extensibility for future integration with other functions or systems at remote sites.
    o Control Panel on Single View to provide instant information and operation
    o PIP and PAP Views in Single View

    Did anybody look at the new Crow DAVIS DVR?

    I thought it looked good, but will probably stick with the Geovision with hardware compression.

    Also looked at HIK Vision - looks fairly "price competive" but has anybody seen what results they give in the real world?

    Can't go wrong with the GeoVision, as a card solution they're one of the best.

    I have to admit the Geo gear is pretty darn good...perhaps too many features...I have been in CCTV for quite some time and have watched Geo grow from the GV150 to GV250 days...must say it's come a long way...I was the first to bring it into the country actually.

    the problem si they wont let anyone have exclusive....so the problem there is that anyone can get it..even buy direct even import cards from the US and not everyone makes a good PC...how do you compete when you can buy the product off ebay!!

    They need to sell full machines...sure that measn a lot more work for them..but its soooo popular now.

    PS dont bag Karl...he is doing a good job LOL
