The latest release of Firmware is in the final stages of testing.
It might be uploaded today.
I will post a link if it gets released.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
New Firmware is out, July 22nd
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
The Team at Vivant would iike to address the Channel List issues next.
They would like our input
So if you have a suggestion, please post it here..
Because of the way Android works, we cant have it exactly the same as E2.
But i'm sure we can develop something as good.
So if you have seen a Channel List on Android, in another product or App, perhaps they can use it as a template.

Well, looks everyone is more than happy with the Channel List.
Kruegerfreddy.... What were you on about?

Just a follow up from my issue a few pages back re: issues with recordings, file format etc.
I bought 2 new Seagate 2TB USB hard drives the other week and have no issues whatsoever. The other drives that I was having the issues with were fairly old.....not that I think it should make a difference, but obviously it did. No idea why, but hey, thats technology

Well, ever since the last 2 software updates, this box has been faultless.
I have been holding off doing an update, because i've been waiting for something to go wrong.
But after leaving the box running for a month straight, going away and coming home 2 weeks later to see its still playing rock solid.
Not running hot, Channel zapping like a champ and the IPTV services load faster and channel change faster than DVB-T.
It doesn't hang
It never loses RC response
It never lags
YouTube is the best experience i have on any box
DVB-T and DVB-S2 is faultless
Kodi is fine (But i hardly use it, as there are better options)
Other Streaming programs work great
Chrome works and lets you play some Online Streams which have App compatibility issues.
The latest software has really been about addressing an even smoother IPTV experience
The U4 plays IPTV streams better than my M8's, loads faster, picture is better.
Overall, i give it a 8.5/10
Its become a daily driver and very useful appliance in the house

I've just noticed the Viviant Tech Aliexpress website now had these boxes at an 18% Discount.
Making them $116 AUD with DHL Shipping
I thought i saw these for $106 AUD, but it must have been $116
Anyway, that may appeal to some people.
Although there has been one or 2 whiners about this product
I think most of that has come down to the user having his own personal issues.
Vivant Tech have stood by their word, they have made multiple firmware improvements, and have not done a "Dump and Run" as so many do.
If i had to pick some Negatives, it would be Channel Bouquets and some Playstore Apps are not Compatible.
In saying that, plenty of other boxes also have App Compatibility issues, so it is hardly an issue confined to just one make of box.
(I have been told there will be a follow up Firmware Update to address the Playstore compatibility issue)
For me, it has only been 2 Apps that would not install from Playstore, so its no big deal anyway.
Even so, i still find the U4 Quad leaps and bounds more practical and useful than all my other OTT boxes, purely because of the DVB-S2 and DVB-T ability.
And the PVR ability which is so easy to use.
Even the "One Button" screen capture is super handy when something is on the screen
It is also nice that everything can be handled by the Home Screen, need to go searching for Apps, everything can be accessed from the Home Screen in a very simple and clean lay out.
Sure is a sign of things to come!
The form factor makes these units great to mount in a Caravan, Boat or RV, Van etc
So far i've just used a Tablet or Laptop for the above, but i'm looking forward to fitting out a Van and Including a Flatscreen and one of these devices.

just ordered one i am going to give the cam menu a hammering and also try sideload SDRtouch.
i am sure i am going to be able to break it.
has anyone hooked up a keyboard and mouse to it.
hey guys i am thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these boxes, I already own a m8 and a minix neo x7, im looking at purchasing this for its sat decoding, I have an old dish on my roof are there many FTA signals I can receive on this? We live in a bit of a black spot for reception so our primary source of entertainment comes via KODI.
Im located on the east coast of AU
Thankyou oceanboy and all the others for your write ups, first box ive been excited about in a while

the only thing i can see missing is a CI / card reader.
if someone was to make a USB to CI adapter plus card reader it would be a instant hit!! no need to upgrade box just buy the adapter.
if it had a spare USB port on the adapter you could daisy chain them together.
As I mentioned previously, a CAM slot would make it useful for a VAST cam/card... I would have bought one long before now if it had a CAM slot.
i cannot see the point in putting a ci slot in the box due to cost and not everyone will use it.
but i can see a add on plugin ci module box being useful for those that want it.
something like a basic card reader that clips onto the bottom of the U4 then another model that has a CI + card reader for those that need ci support.
