I cannot see any new firmware at smartstb.net. Also, I can't get an account on the site. I have no idea what is expected from "put site domain www.smart***.net:" Everything I enter brings up an error message.

Hi People,
I have upgraded to the latest from here but can't seem to get sound on ABC News 24 or 9HD in terrestrial, anybody else have this problem or a fix ?

i had that same problem out of the box i just moved the volume all the way up then all the way down then up to where i wanted it,but i don't think it is the latest firmware though

Hey all,

just wondering if anyone knows of a way to get the channel listing in alphabetical order on the U4 ? Apart from creating favourites and trying to sort through them manually :-)

I tried the new firmware & it is diabolical. Picture on all FTA TV channels appears to overscan to blazes - RHS of picture is off screen. 4:3 are offset so that black is only on LHS, picture extends all the way to the right. Preview screen in guide only shows a small strip of picture. None of the A/V settings changes any of this - I can shrink the size so that there is a black border all the way round, but the full picture is still not displayed.

I have tried some of the Beta Firmware but at the moment have gone back to the Original factory firmware that was available on

My STB came with "20160217" factory firmware installed (full version)

At present I have "20160319" factory firmware installed (full version)

I also have tried Beta firmware "19 Apr 16", have not tried the last one yet .....

I was going to upload some of firmware files for you but it looks like the above website is now working again .....

I found all the firmware had some minor problems .... some less than others ......

I am on 20160415 and havent had any real dramas apart from VLC media player regularly plays up, so I use MX player (it might of course just be VLC)

Received my box on Thursday and im happy with the purchase. The TV picture is better than my bravia tuner.

Its played any file i've thrown at it, including pass through on all the HD audio formats with the native media centre. Just one minor problem..does anybody know how to switch the media centre app showing subtitles by default when playing movies? Can't seem to find any options to change this.

Also, looking for a media browser app similar to kodi that will show all the artwork/covers/info for my movies saved on my home network drives and also let me select the native player? Kodi is no good as it doesnt play the HD audio correctly.

Can i pls ask anyone with a U4 Quad to check and see if they can successfully "side load" apps?
Im sure i accomplished this with an early firmware version (the one the box came with), but the version i am running currently prevents me from doing so.

I am trying to achieve this from an Attached USB HDD
I have tried with APK Installer and also using EZ File Explorer and Total Commander, all with no luck

Im currently on Build Date: 2016-04-12

EDIT: I moved the .APKs i am trying to install to the Internal Storage of the U4 Quad and i still get the same failed message when trying to install them

I side loaded by downloading the APK direct through the U4 internet browser ( mine is firefox). Then go to downloads in "all apps".

Check that unknown sources is allowed in your security settings as well

Thanks bam, yes unknown sources had been ticked.
I never thought to use the machines browser, cheers.

Although have managed to get the .apk file onto the box via transfer methods, so i'm not sure what downloading with the machines browser will achieve any different.

Update: No that failed on my box

As said, i could Side Load previous
Im not sure if it has to do with this version of firmware or another reason

The On Screen message i get is:

"No Activity Found to handle intent"

Looks like a code issue with this firmware version.

What version firmware is on your box bam?

Ill install 63SDK on my U4 and see how that goes.

All firmwares are very much BUG.
March 18, the latest official firmware. No support.
edit favorite and channel sort impossible.
last Beta firmware , fake Blind scan . etc ......

Similar and much better Android DVB Receivers 60usd
Sellers opportunistic , very expensive 106.69usd price for the U4 quad. .
I think manufacturers went bankrupt.

Hi oceanboy,
Just use ESfilexplorer and ftp all the.apk files from ur local network.....thats how i do it with my nvidia shield tv box, cause tyey have lots of restrictions. I would not think that this Chinese box is restrickted to side load the apps.....strange

Moving the file was not that problem
It was installing it.
Code issue.

You can search K1 plus 4k 60p , Aliexpress or Ebay ..62.99usd best seller 4xUSB . K1 plus not problem with channell sorting or favorities moving etc.

Well, your post contradicts itself, by suggesting another Android DVB-T box.
And being a pop-up poster, we all have to wonder the motives.

Personally i disagree.
My partner uses the U4 as her source for TV every single day.
It is the daily driver, gets channel flicked flat out, no problem, doesn't freeze or lock up.
Plays all over our saved Movies and IPTV services.

Android might not be as good as E2 in some areas, but lets not forget when E1 started with the DM7000, it was a horrible box for the first 2 years until firmware more refined.
