Welcome to Austech, Clay.
Hi guys.
Being a systems integration engineer (or so I'm told) from way back before even IT courses existed, and also of course being an Aussie from SA country originally, I'm considered a little "odd" and my family has no idea what I'm talking about, but nod to be polite after I've just explained something to them , I thought I'd check this website out and see what you all do in here.
My actual degrees are in Electronics and Maths, and things have changed just a "tad" since the good old Zylog Z80 intel 8080 and the Motorola 6809 days. (If you recognise any of these processor names, it's an instant clue that you're also a dinosaur )
I first started as a programmer, and shifted into hardware installation and service work doing mostly token ring, and started writing programs to 'integrate" unlike networks so that both could "share" a printer.
I then shifted into biometrics, and have been pretty much in security, and integrating separate security systems since.
Currently I mostly do sales, and only the very occasional install, or service work.
So just a bit about me, as I'm sure you guys have lots of better things to do than to read all this. For those of you that have made it this far, feel free to leave a reply

Welcome to the forum Clay, new members with a positive attitude are extremely welcome.
Being considered odd is almost a prerequisite, so you will fit in well.
Cheers, Tiny

Thanks mate. I was concerned it might be full of armchair professors hotly debating highly technical topics to death
It ain't the Lions you need worry about here, more like the Sharks.....
